Milla Jovovich To Play The Villain In ‘Hellboy: Rise Of The Red Queen’

The cast of Neil Marshall’s Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen is beginning to take shape. Last week, it was announced that ‘American Gods’ actor Ian McShane had signed for the film featuring David Harbour as Hellboy. Today, we have more casting news. It has now been revealed that Milla Jovovich has been cast as the villain of the film, the Red Queen. Jovovich has long played Alice, the hero of the long running Resident Evil franchise whose last sequel, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, opened in theaters this past January. It is an interesting coincidence that Jovovich came face to face with the A.I. that ran by the Umbrella Corporation’s tasks in Resident Evil, its name, the Red Queen. The two queens are not connected in the film world, they simply have the same name. In Rise of the Red Queen, Hellboy will face off against a medieval sorceress who seeks to destroy humankind. The film which is aiming

New “Leatherface’ Trailer Rev’s Up The Hype

When Leatherface, a Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel, was first announced I was a little wary; unlike Micheal Myers, Freddy Krueger, or even Jason, Leatherface didn’t have much of an origin story in his debut film. And frankly, he didn’t need one. The skin mask and hum of a chainsaw were all the big crossdressing brute needed to become one of the most terrifying villains in horror history. The newest trailer however, has got me a little more excited. Containing an asylum escape, what looks like a small army of cops (who will inevitable become power tool fodder) and Little Leatherface receiving his first chainsaw, the film’s actually starting to look like it might become the first good Texas Chainsaw film in years. The first good one in 43 years if your asking me, but that’s neither here nor there……

An Update On ‘The Crooked Man’, ‘The Nun’, And ‘The Conjuring 3’

With The Nun, The Crooked Man, and The Conjuring 3 ,all in the works the universe seems to be expanding by leaps and bounds. Let’s not forget that Annabelle: Creation, from David F. Sandberg, will be opening in theaters this weekend. During a conversation with EW, producer-writer-director James Wan gave fans a tease of what they can expect from The Crooked Man, as well as giving an update on The Nun and The Conjuring 3. Wan stated that Corin Hardy’s Conjuring spin-off, The Nun, is now in post-production. The film centers on the back story of the Nun that stalked Lorraine warren, played by Vera Farmiga, in The Conjuring 2. He had this to say about The Crooked Man: We think we have a really exciting story,” Wan told the site. “What we want to do, with The Conjuring universe, is we want each of our little offshoots to have a very different flavor, right? So, for example, Annabelle is

What Are You Doing In My Sewers: Shrek Invades The New ‘It’ Trailer

Just when you thought The Cat In The Hat was the scariest thing hanging out in the Derry Sewers, a certain ogre pokes his ugly green head out. Ogres are like onions! Ogres are like onions! I’m starting to think the It trailer would still be scary if you replaced Pennywise with a goldfish, let alone an 8 foot tall foul smelling monster like Shrek. Thats not a bad question actually; what does Pennywise smell like? Shouldn’t that white cotton clown costume be smeared in brown? I really hope “insert random slightly creepy children character Into It trailer” becomes a new meme. Maybe next up The Grinch? Yep….not terrifying at all.

‘IT’ Director Sets His Sights On The ‘Pet Sematary’ Remake

There is little doubt that the most highly anticipated film of the year is IT. Even though the adaption of Stephen King’s classic is still a month from opening in theaters, director Andy Muschietti has already confirmed that he will be helming the second film that will pick up with the Losers’ Club as adults. But it seems Muschietti and his producer/sister Barbara are going to continue making King adaptions, at least for a while. Their next target, the remake of King’s Pet Semetary, originally released in 1989 and directed by Mary Lambert. We reported back in 2015 that Paramount had ordered the reboot of Pet Sematary. It is unclear what has changed, but the remake has been listed for sale. Muschietti told the Toronto Sun that he is hoping to claim it for his own. We’re huge fans of Pet Sematary. If we can get our hands on that and do the Pet Sematary we want to do, that

Uncork’d Entertainment Will Unleash ‘Demons’ This October

Miles Doleac’s (American Horror Story) supernatural thriller Demons has now wrapped and is aiming at an October theatrical release. A brand image from the film has arrived and we have it to share with you. Co-starring Wishmaster’s Andrew Divoff, and Smallville alum John Schneider, Demons tells of a celebrated fiction writer and former priest who, along with his wife, are tormented by the ghost of her late sister, as the details of her grisly death are slowly uncovered. Written by Doleac, whose previous film, the small-town murder mystery The Hollow, was released in theaters late last year, Demons is described as a “psychological thriller that marries elements of The Exorcist, The Shining and The Big Chill.” Initially, my decision to write a horror script was predicated on necessity: I had a synopsis for an “exorcism” script that Lindsay (my wife) and I had worked up together. Star-writer-director Doleac stated, “A major distributor had expressed interest. Said distributor wanted to see

Something Terrifying Is Coming Down The Chimney with ‘Red Christmas’

For the so called “happiest time of the year” Christmas sure contains a lot of misery. From racist Uncle Gary drinking one too many Eggnogs, to your sisters brat kids driving their RC cars into your heels, for anyone who doesn’t have the happiest relationship with their family, Saint Nicks Day can make you feel like putting an icepick through your eye. But even the Manson family probably doesn’t have as fucked up a holiday as the poor saps in Red Christmas. Starring Dee Wallace, perhaps best known as Elliot’s mother in E.T. (but at her best as the tough as nails canine killer Donna Trenton in Cujo) Red Christmas follows “Diane, a matriarch presiding over the gathering of her squabbling grown children on Christmas Day. Tensions give way to terror when a deformed stranger appears at the door with vengeance on his mind. Diane must protect her family as limbs are severed and secrets are brought into the light.”

Flowers Fight Back in ‘FLORA’

Plants haven’t been given a good wrap in horror movies in recent years, with high profile bombs like The Happening and The Ruins making audiences everywhere if shrubs can actually be scary. Well one upcoming film is looking to put the fear back in flowers. FLORA, set in 1929 and already racking up some impressive awards if its website is anything to judge by, follows a small expedition of botanists entering an uncharted forest system and having to fight back against the ancient and deadly plant life that surrounds them. How those plants actually go about the process of murder is yet to be seen, although I could do without yet another film featuring acidic vines. The trailer is certainly slick, and the early 20th century setting could potentially be a lot of fun. If this film is a sort of The Ruins meets King Kong, what with all the galavanting around desolate forests and Model T’s, it could certainly
