Bub Gets A New Look And New Name In The ‘Day Of The Dead’ Remake

Fans were crushed earlier this month when George A. Romero passed away. One of his most cherished classics is Day of the Day. Today, we have a first look at Jonathan Schaech who will be playing the role of the intelligent zombie in Héctor Vicens’ remake. Originally named Bub, the iconic character has a new name in the upcoming remake. He is now called Max. That’s a pretty big change for such a well known zombie. In an interview with Bloody Disgusting, Schaech described Max as “more as a Hulk thank Bub.” Max is more of a “Bub on steroids”. In the remake, Max is obsessed with the new character Zoe (Sophia Skelton). Schaech also compared the new version of Romero’s 1985 classic with ‘The Walking Dead’, which interesting considering the fact that Romeo made it clear on several occasions that he disliked the hit series. Basically, it’s just a Soap Opera with a zombie occasionally. I always used the

Who You Gonna Call? The Ghostbusters In 2019!

Fans had mixed emotions when it came to 2016’s female driven Ghostbusters. Many thought that franchise would end, but they were wrong. Ivan Reitman, the director of the original film and its sequel, made an appearance at a panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. He revealed that he is very optimistic that a new sequel will possibly arrive around the original’s 35th anniversary in 2019. Well, the studio is working on some really nice things. First of all, I can’t believe the movie is still playing and being watched so assiduously… and I can’t believe I’m so old. Yeah, I think there’s going to be a lot of fun, a lot of special things. We’re going to try to tie one of our films close to that date.” It was also mentioned during the panel that the film will be live-action. He also talked about the animated series that is in the works. I think we have wonderful plans,

No Giant Spider For ‘IT’ Remake

The original IT miniseries had some strong elements, but it also had some weaker ones, perhaps most memorably the animatronic abomination that was Pennywise’s final form. Taking the form of a giant spider that wouldn’t look out of place in an episode of Goosebumps, much of the horror and tension of the previous 3 hours is replaced with laughter and befuddlement. Yes, the spider was in the book, but not everything that works on the written page works on the screen. That’s certainly evident here. Thankfully Bloody-Disgusting has reported that there will in fact be no arachnid in the upcoming remake. “Muschietti’s version will show more of Pennywise adapting into various forms that are based on the children’s individual fears. However, it will not show Pennywise as a giant spider like it did in the 1990 miniseries adaptation.” As someone who loved the novel but hated the mini-series (with the exception of Tim Curry) this is good news. While the

Warner Bros. In Talks With Two Stars For The ‘Little Shop Of Horror’ Remake

Last year, we reported that Warner Bros. was remaking The Little Shop of Horrors with Arrow’s Greg Berlanti in the director’s chair. Based on Frank Oz’s 1986 movie-musical, the new script was penned by Matthew Robinson (Black Box). According to The Hashtag Show, the studio is now circling two well known actors for the lead roles of Seymour and Audrey, Josh Gad, who recently played LeFou in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, and Pitch Perfect actress Rebel Wilson. While the two musically talented actors have not officially signed the studio is reporting that they are very interested. In the original film, Rick Moranis starred as Seymour Krelborn, a down-on-his luck florist who comes across a strange plant who has a taste for blood. While raising the ever growing and always hungry plant, he watches as the woman he loves, Audrey, is mistreated by her boyfriend (Steve Martin). Little Shop of Horrors is one of my favorite horror-comedy-musicals. While I find

Warner Bros. Remaking ‘Invasion Of The Body Snatchers’

One of the classic horror/sci-fi films that has always had a following is Don Siegel’s 1956 Invasion of the Body Snatchers, based on the 1954 novel ‘The Body Snatchers’ by Jack Finney, and was remade in 1978 by director Philip Kaufman. With the current rash of remakes/reboots it is no surprise that Warner Bros. has a new version of the film currently in development. The script is being penned by David Leslie Johnson who also wrote the scripts for The Conjuring 2 and the upcoming sequel, The Conjuring 3. John Davis (Predator, I, Robot) will produce. The film is set in a small town invaded by aliens who plant pods that eventually open to release what looks like a copy of the humans in town, void of any emotion. We will keep you posted as the story develops. In the meantime, check out the trailer for the 1978 film.

‘Van Helsing’ Reboot Reportedly Has Chosen It’s Star

The “Dark Universe” didn’t exactly get off to a good start with The Mummy, but Universal won’t let the franchise die, with everything from The Wolfman to The Hunchback of Notre Dame getting adaptations. I’d be more shocked than Frankenstein’s Monster if even half these films actually get made, but who knows, I’m no fortune teller. Out of the five or six films slated to come out, the only one I really felt any amount of excitement for was Van Helsing. The whole concept of an international monster hunter is a neat idea, and the 2004 adaptation didn’t really do the concept justice. Well that excitement’s sunk into the Black Lagoon with the announcement that Magic Mike pretty boy Channing Tatum is reportedly up for the role. Best known for being the worst part of The Hateful Eight and being the most meh part of 21 Jump Street, Tatum’s casting shows both that Universal hasn’t learned dick from The Mummy

Blumhouse Will Produce The New ‘Spawn’ Movie

Spawn has had a difficult time making it to the big screen in years past, but with producing powerhouse Blumhouse given the reigns, the chances of seeing everyones favorite vigilante demon on the big screen is higher than ever. With a script from original Spawn Comic Writer Todd McFarlane, this could be the hard R big budget film Spawn fans have been waiting for. While there was a previous film adaptation released in ’97 it’s probably best left in the dustbin of history. The HBO animated series, which ran for a few years in the late 90’s, was better, but still not the balls to the wall live action gore fest that fans crave. Another animated series, revealed back in ’09, has yet to be released at all. Blumhouse is more well known for their tightly budgeted and independent films than comic book blockbusters, so here’s hoping they give Spawn the attention to detail it deserves. Because if there’s anything

King’s Son Has High Praise for ‘IT’ Remake

It’s a pretty big year for Stephen King fans, with a film adaptation of The Dark Tower, a new original show Castle Rock, a television adaptation of Mr. Mercedes, and more being announced/released. But the most exciting upcoming project has got to be the IT remake, a new adaptation of one of King’s most famous (and longest) novels. The first trailer blew up online, with its terrifying new vision of Pennywise the Clown and 1980’s setting (as opposed to the 60’s setting in the novel). With just a few months until IT is released, a few people in the industry have seen an early cut, and at least one of them has high praise for the Andres Muschietti’s directed film. “Andres’ adaptation of IT is one of the 5 scariest films ever made,” Hill confidently stated. “It’s tremendously humane. You love the characters in it. But it is just relentlessly terrifying.” That quotes from author and Stephen King’s son Joe
