Saw: Legacy Has Filled The Director’s Chair

Last week we reported that Saw: Legacy will begin filming in September. At the time, the film’s director had not been announced. Today, word has come via Fangoria that the 8th film in the franchise has found its director(s). Australian brothers Michael and Peter Spierig have signed on to fill the director’s chairs. The Spierig brothers directed 2010’s vampire film Daybreakers, starring Ethan Hawke. They are also directing the upcoming film based on The Winchester Mystery House. The film has another brother duo, Josh and Pete Goldfinger (Piranha 3D), penning the script for Legacy. Little else is known about Saw: Legacy at this point, except that James Wan and Leigh Whannell will be returning to produce. For now, Lionsgate is keeping the details surrounding Legacy hush-hush. But we will keep you updated as we learn more. Image Source: Bing, unkown

Universal Has Found Their Star For The Remake of Frankenstein

Last year Universal tapped Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan to begin work on its new shared universe and the remakes of all of its classic horror films. Universal’s The Mummy reboot, starring Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe, will soon wrap filming. And their next reboot, Frankenstein, is now in the early phases of casting. There have been many remakes and reboots of Frankenstein over the years, but the original has never been topped, in my opinion. Let’s hope the new film will do it justice. Variety is reporting that Javier Bardem is now in negotiations to star as Dr, Frankenstein’s monster, a role originally played by Boris Karloff in 1931. Bardem was also offered the role of Dr. Jekyll in the new The Mummy reboot, but passed. There is no word yet if Bardem will also appear in the Bride of Frankenstein, whose star has been named as Angelina Jolie. Bardem is a gifted actor who has starred in many

Sigourney Weaver Is Back For Alien V

While fans have been following Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant, another film in the franchise has been quietly working away. Neil Blumkamp’s sequel stars Sigourney, who will be reprising her role as Ripley. Michael Biehn is back too, as Corporal Hicks in Alien V. You may be scratching your head, wondering how Weaver’s character will return for the new film. According to Weaver, the film will act as a direct sequel to James Cameron’s 1986 classic. Which means Ripley and Hicks are still alive. It’s just as if the path forks and one direction off to three and four and another direction goes off to Neil’s movie,” Weaver stated.. Alien: Covenant follows a ship bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. The crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world – whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the
