Blu-ray Review: The Sergio Martino Collection (1971 – 1975)

Review by Dan XIII and Shane Migliavacca Our putrid pals at Arrow Video (along with MVD Entertainment) have gone and shoved a whole mess o’ Martino into a handy-dandy box set, and me and my oldest pal Shane Migliavacca (of the Cathode Ray Mission) are going to give a revoltin’ review to each and every one of those bastards! Kickin’ things off is 1971’s The Case of the Scorpion’s Tail: Lisa (Evelyn Stewart) a jet setting wife of a business man is having an afternoon tryst with her bohab in old London town. Meanwhile her husband’s plane blows up real good (this sequence faetures one of the worst miniature planes I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing… seriously, Ed Wood would have looked at it and said: “I’m not filming this piece of junk.”) Anyhow, it appears Lisa’s husband took out a life insurance policy, leaving Lisa with…wait for it…one million dollars. She’s rich bitch! Trouble is her husband was

Directed by Rob Ulitski, the film stars up-and-coming genre actors Bella Rich and Chris Mills, and “explores post-pandemic anxiety, through an experimental and grisly aesthetic. Shot on a micro-budget at the end of the most recent lockdown, the film was a labor of love and a step into the unknown for the cast and crew, whose output has been sporadic since the initiation of Covid safety procedures in 2020.” I’m so happy we were able to make this film, and channel some of our own anxieties, frustrations and fears into something creative. We are all super passionate about the horror genre, and the community of horror fans who help celebrate and lift each other up on a day to day basis”. Director / Producer Rob

Brutal Horror Comic ‘OBSO/LETE’ Coming This August

Two bartenders in a run-down future city realize their district is being infiltrated and assimilated by cybernetic horrors. That’s the premise of OBSO/LETE, the highly-anticipated new horror comic from G.A Alexander (writer), Justin M. Ryan (artist), and Daniela Barisone (artist). Their trio’s goal is to produce a comic that marries the neon-drenched world of cyberpunk with the grim tone and nightmare aesthetics of horror. We were inspired by movies like Hellraiser and Blade Runner, as well as comics like The Crow and 30 Days of Night that offer a gritty street-level view of the fantastic and often horrific events that take place in their stories.” Alexander states. “1995: A Hacker Attack takes out half of the US Government’s infrastructure. In 1996, The US Cybersecurity Act outlaws and severely restrict access to any networked or mobile technologies for the entire country. 2046: NOW… The City, a sprawling metropolis consisting of almost twenty separate districts, is under immense pressure.
