Game Review: ‘The Ascent’

A big thank you to Neon Giant and Curve Digital for the opportunity to review this cyberpunk RPG! If you’re still being burned by a certain cyberpunk game earlier this year or can’t get enough of the cyberpunk aesthetics, then The Ascent is for you! The Ascent takes players to another planet where a corporate-operated city stretches high in the air and is home to millions of workers (more like slaves) to The Ascent Group arcology from all over the galaxy. One day, the company’s systems shut down putting the livelihood of all who live in the city in jeopardy as rival corporate groups and black marketers try to take advantage. I’m letting slide some tech issues as it’s been announced that patches are on the way in August and September but let’s get on to the game itself! This is a third-person shooter where the camera is set at a higher angle so aiming during combat can be slightly

There have been rumors about the new upcoming Predator movie, Skull since the news broke back in 2020. The producers, John Davis and John Fox have now confirmed some of the details. The two recently told Collider that the film, which is already “three-quarters of the way through” production, will be a “Predator origin story” about “the Predators’ first journey to this planet.”According to Fox, “it actually has more akin to The Revenant than it does any film in the Predator canon.” It’s rumored that the film will be set hundreds of years in the past and centers on Native Americans before the territories were taken by the American settlers and will feature a First Nations cast. But that has yet to be confirmed. Dan Trachtenberg is in the director’s chair and has been working on the project in secret for the past four years. Patrick Aison penned the script. Neil Marshall Unleashes Half Human Monsters In His New Horror Thriller ‘The Lair’

Jonathan Howard (Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World, Skylines, Warner Bros.’ Godzilla King of Monsters), Charlotte Kirk (The Reckoning, Warner Bros.’ Oceans Eight), and Jamie Bamber (UMC’s “Battlestar Galactica,” Cinemax’s “Strike Back,” 20th Century Fox’s Money) are set to star in the new horror-action-thriller The Lair written and directed by legendary filmmaker Neil Marshall (20th Century Fox’s Dog Soldiers, Lionsgate’s The Descent, The Reckoning, HBO’s “Game Of Thrones”). In the film, “Sergeant Tom Hook is tasked with leading a command to find Lt. Kate Sinclair, a Royal Air Force fighter pilot shot down in Afghanistan. Sinclair, pursued by insurgents, finds refuge in a long-abandoned secret bunker and unwittingly releases a deadly man-made biological weapon – half-human, half-alien, and hungry for human flesh – the Ravagers. Hook and his team, accompanied by a handful of British SAS troops must save Sinclair from the insurgents, and more importantly from the Ravagers before they overrun the area and potentially the world. 4K UHD Review: The Bird with the Crystal Plumage (1970)

Slammin’ Sammy (Tony Musante) is one of those American “writer” types… he’s also completely devoid of the creative spark, so he’s parked his ass down ol’ Italia way in the hopes that a change of scenery will give his juices a jolt! Speaking of “jolting” things, our man Sam gets a real eyeful when he spies the ol’ murder biz goin’ down in a fancy-ass art gallery (really, there are seldom any other kind), but the victim, one Monica Ranieri (Eva Renzi), turns the tables on her faceless assailant who flees into the night (but not before being a real prize-winning dickus to ol’ Sam and Mony-Mony via some electronic doors and slow torture). Enter: Inspector Morosini (Enrico Maria Salerno) who gives our man Sam-I-Am some static, as he holds the writer in Rome in the hopes he will help crack the case with the absolute unending terror he witnessed and all… but the killer at large is more than

Two Huge Stars Joining The Cast Of ‘The Haunted Mansion’

Disney is taking us to the Haunted Mansion with a new film based on the iconic ride. Today, we’ve got some casting news to share with you. Comedian Tiffany Haddish (Night School, Girls Trip, Like A Boss) and Oscar nominee LaKeith Stanfield (Get Out, Knives Out, Sorry To Bother You) are currently in talks to star in the movie, THR reports. “Stanfield would play a widower who once believed in the supernatural but is now a rather lifeless tour guide in New Orleans’ French Quarter,” and “Haddish would play a psychic hired to commune with the dead.” Which we assume is the role of the iconic Madame Leota, the headless psychic in the crystal ball, played by Jennifer Tilly in the 2003 adaptation. The movie, which has nothing to do with the 2003 movie starring Eddie Murphy, sounds a lot like a prequel to the ride, an origin story if you will. But we’ll have to wait for the synopsis

A24’s New ‘Lamb’ Trailer Left Us Speechless

When it comes to unique, unnerving films, anything from A24 is bound to get under your skin. That includes Lamb, whose new trailer left me speechless. From Valdimar Jóhannsson comes the supernatural horror thriller Lamb “is the story of a childless couple, María (Noomi Rapace) and Ingvar (Hilmir Snaer Gudnason), who are sheep farmers in Iceland. On Christmas Eve they find a newborn who is half-human, half sheep. Longing for a child of their own they decide to keep the lamb-child and raise it as their own regardless of the consequences. This unexpected prospect of a new family brings them much joy before it ultimately destroys them.” Lamb, a film unlike anything we’ve seen before, is set to be released on October 8, 2021.
