Shudder’s horror-thriller Speak No Evil is set to premiere this September. But is it worth watching? Let’s talk about it. From director Christian Tafdrup comes the film about two families who become friends during an Italian getaway. When Patrick (Fedja van Huêt) and Karin (Karina Smulders) invite Bjorn (Morten Burian) and Louise (Sidsel Siem Koch) to their remote home for a few days, they quickly say yes. Bjorn, Louise, and their young daughter are greeted with joy upon arriving, but that wouldn’t last long. After a few days, Bjorn and Louise begin to notice that something is off with the other family, soon they will learn just how off the family is when their true selves begin to shine through and the reality of Patrick and his wife’s nefarious motives are revealed. Since its launch in early August 2022, The Mortuary Assistant has become an internet phenomenon — achieving a top 10 streamed games spot on Twitch, becoming a Top Seller on Steam, and taking gaming TikTok by storm. It has been played by top gaming YouTubers such as Markiplier and Jacksepticeye, garnering over tens of millions of views. So it’s not a huge surprise that it’s being adapted for a feature film. When a man returns to his childhood home dark family secrets begin to surface in Paramount’s The Visitor, directed by Justin P. Lange. Starring Finn Jones, Jessica McNamee, Dane Rhodes, and Donna Biscoe, the film was written by Adam Mason and Simon Boyes. Luca Guadagnino‘s (Suspiria) next horror film, Bones and All, stars Timothée Chalamet (Dune) and Taylor Russell (Escape Room) in what is being described as a cannibal horror love story. Reportedly the film centers on “two outsiders who embark on a 1,000-mile odyssey through Ronald Reagan’s America. When they discover they cannot outrun their terrifying pasts the pair take a final stand to determine whether their love can survive their otherness.” David Kajganich, who also wrote Guadagnino’s Suspiria, penned the script based on the novel penned by Camille DeAngelis. Mark Rylance, André Holland, Jessica Harper, Michael Stuhlbarg, David Gordon-Green, Francesca Scorsese, and Chloë Sevigny round out the cast. Bones and All has been acquired by MGM, and will debut in theaters on November 23, 2022.
