‘The Nightmare’ A Documentary By Rodney Ascher

Imagine that as you slept, you sensed something in the darkness, but you are paralyzed and helpless, as a shadowy entity comes closer to you, welcome to the world of sleep paralysis. In Ascher’s documentary, titled ‘The Nightmare’ he explores the phenomenon of sleep paralysis and recreates the atmosphere and terror that the victims experience. Often people suffering from the condition wake paralyzed and unable to cry out. It’s not uncommon for sufferers to hear voices, feel as if something is in the room with them or see disturbing images during episodes and often panic sets in. Sleep Paralysis is more common than you would think, around 6% of the world’s population experience the condition. There is a common thread between sufferers, it’s not background or social standing, it’s the fact that almost all of the sufferers describe the same shadow people or horrifying visions during their episodes, leaving us to wonder if something bigger is going on. Movie Review: The Canal (2014)

David, a film archivist has been having a tough time lately. David has been going through old reels of crime scene footage at work and stumbled across a video of a crime scene in his new home. To top everything off, David suspects his wife (Alice) may be having an affair. David soon begins hearing voices and seeing shadow figures around him. When Alice disappears David’s world descends into chaos and now his son is in serious danger. The Canal was written and directed by Ivan Kavanagh and stars ‘Hellboy’ actor Rupert Evans as the main character, David. This supernatural tale also stars Hannah HoekstraAnit (APP) as David’s wife Alice. Campbell-Hughes (Albert Nobbs) as David’s coworker. Many other fine actors are listed as cast members. I have to say, I really didn’t expect much from ‘The Canal’, but in the end I was pleasantly surprised. Rupert Evans did a great job in is role as David. He really sales the

A Sequel To ‘Ouija’ Is In The Works

‘Oculus’ writers Mike Flanagan and Jeff Howard are set to pen the sequel to the 2013 paranormal horror ‘Ouija’, which Mike Flanagan directed. Flanagan and Howard ‘Ouija’ follows five teenagers, who have used a Ouija board to reach out to their friends, who supposedly committed suicide. The group accidentally unleashes a vengeful spirit. ‘Ouija’ stars Oivia Cooke and Daren Kagasoff. According to an article by Deadline, the sequel will have a plot that mirrors that of the first movie. ‘Ouija’ did not get rave reviews, so I can’t help but wonder why they would go with the same story twice. It is still early in preproduction, so the story may change. The director and cast have yet to be announced, but Michael Bay and Jason Blum of Blumhouse have already been listed as two of the sequel’s producers. ‘Ouija 2’ is set to be released October 21st of next year. The trailer for ‘Ouija’ (2014)
