Ahead of the June release of the critically acclaimed festival hit Homewrecker, a new NSFW Red Band trailer has been unleashed. Alex Essoe (Doctor Sleep) and Precious Chong (L.A Confidential) star in director Zach Gayne’s “hilarious, dark view of modern loneliness” that has “the energy of a Jane Fonda workout tape” (Rotten Tomatoes), from Uncork’d Entertainment and Dark Star Pictures. “Michelle is an interior designer and newlywed to Robert. Linda lives alone and fills her days with painting and exercise classes. Seeking a new friend, Linda coerces the reserved, deferential Michelle into visiting her home for a spontaneous interior design consultation. Once inside, it quickly becomes clear that Linda has something far more sinister on her mind than throw pillows.” Scripted by Precious Chong, Alex Essoe, and Zach Gayne, Homewrecker is set to be released in select theaters June 26th and will arrive on Digital and DVD on July 3rd.

A tortured artist (Christian Grose) has a real wild hair up his ass about a cloaked figure that keeps showing up in his drawings… even if he didn’t actually draw the entity with his putrid pencil. As the night goes on, that cloaked sumbitch proves he isn’t a mere eerie etching, and our hero won’t be able to just erase the darkness as he does in his scary sketchbook! Running a brief six minutes, this sinister short manages to set up a great lil’ conceit, namely; the artist that brings evil to life through his art… which has a true classical feel in my not so humble opinion. This gives the piece a nice sense of mythology, which sets off the joltin’ jump scares (that actually work) and gives everything a sense of depth… no easy feat given the runtime! All in all writer/director Dominic Grose (aided and abetted by the arcane artwork of Deidre Hume) has crafted a nice

“Supernatural” actor-director Richard Speight Jr. and Casey Dillard star in the supernatural film Driven, which follows a man on a mission to take down the dark entities released by his family’s curse. When a cab driver (Dillard) picks him she has no clue that her passenger, Roger (Speight Jr.), is about to introduce her to a world she had no idea exists. Driven, directed by Glenn Payne and written by Dillard, sits on the border between a horror film and horror-comedy. While filled with horror elements the interaction between the two characters gets downright funny at times. Speight Jr. and Dillard work so well together. There’s a contrast between the two characters with Dillard’s being a bit quirky and Speight Jr.’s being intense makes the two a match made in heaven. Much of the film is set in a car, which was risky, there’s always a huge chance that it could make viewers feel a bit claustrophobic, but director Payne

Following its hit festival run, an accidental bootleg release on Amazon, a stint on Shudder, and its DVD release from RLJE, One Cut of the Dead has just gotten a Steelbook release. I happened to get my hands on one and I’m ready to hand down my verdict in this review. The film follows a cast and crew filming a tv episode that sets out to capture the story in one single take. As if that wouldn’t be hard enough on its own, the crew and cast encounter real zombies and have to fight to survive. Written and directed by Shin’ichirô Ueda (Special Actors), the zomcom stars Harumi Shuhama (Ichigo no uta), Takayuki Hamatsu (“Followers”), and Yuzuki Akiyama (“Kamen raidâ Jiô”) and is based on the play, “Ghost in the Box!” written by Ryoichi Wada.
