Sadako is the most iconic horror character in modern horror films, even her American version Samara has become a staple in the genre. Sadako is the paranormal antagonist from the “Ringu” film series from Japan that was later remade as “The Ring” movie series in the US. Ringu was based on the 1991 novel by the same name written by Koji Suzuki. In 1998, the first film was made in Japan before being adapted for American audiences and spawned sequels. This new film is simply titled Sadako and will be directed by Hideo Nakata, who directed the original Ringu and Ringu 2. Sadako enters the modern era where she can be found, of all places…YouTube. The story revolves around Mayu, played by Eliza Ikeda, a mental health counselor and sister to a Youtuber. Ex-cop and (sorta) reformed alcoholic Megan (Shay Mitchell) just took a job handling morgue intakes at Boston Metro Hospital…and although she would assume that most folks check in but they don’t check out, she has yet to meet the corpse of one Hannah Grace (Kirby Johnson) who found herself on the losing end of one those demonic possession/exorcism deals that we all know and love in our beloved horror biz. During World War II, a murdering, raping, shit heel of a human named Langdon (John Ashley) encounters Satan (Vic Diaz) in the woods, and pleads for his life. Ol’ Scratch spares him as long as L-dawg becomes his servant, which he does…I mean, what’s the worst that could happen? Well, Langdon becomes a pseudo-werewolf eventually, so there’s that. Before all that mangy madness though, Langdon inhabits the bodies of various people over a quarter of a century, making them be the worst they can be to give the Devil his due. Eventually Langdon ends up in the body of a dude named Phil…who just so happens to look just like our “hero” (confused yet)? anyway, langdon has enough of Satan’s shit and try’s to enforce his own will into his existence…and that’s where the werewolf comes in as he turns willy-nilly into a mass murdering monster mutt-man. Two dipshit kids go frolicking in the woods and uncover a bunker from World War II (as children often do) and end up freeing the zombie soldier inside. Said soldier then proceeds to rip the countryside a new asshole as he goes on one of those “absolutely out of control murder sprees” that are all the rage these days. Enter retirement home resident John Rhys-Davies who Basil Expoisition’s his ass all over the place and fills everybody in on the secrets he holds from he war that may help stop the monster in their midst! Soldier of War, for all of my nonsense above, is actually one entertainin’ fright flick! Coming off a bit like First Blood with a zombie…the slate gray skies, foreboding wooded locales, and our antagonist’s penchant for setting up booby traps for his victims to fall into all bring the Stallone classic (itself a form of pseudo-slasher in my not so humble opinion) to mind, while

These Ratzis soon realize they are lost as balls, seeing as how their compasses are acting crazier than a shit house rat (nope, nothing strange here)…but, thankfully they find an abandoned house in the middle of nowhere to hunker down in. Things seem to be going swell; they can rest, warm-up…maybe shit, shower, and shave…but of course this is a fright flick, so this is merely the calm before the supernatural storm; as this arcane abode has one of those “evil pasts” that the kids are so wild about these days, and before you can say “Haunted Hitler” our “heroes” are in over their heads in supernatural goings-on! Three dudes, one lifeboat…not as kinky as it sounds, as said dudes, Oliver (Alex Hassell), Cailean (Fisayo Akinade) and, Jimmy (Graham Butler) to be precise, are the survivors of a mysterious shipwreck that find themselves stranded on a fog enshrouded, ice cold, drab and dreary island in 1800’s era Scotland. They come to stay with Douglas Innis (Conleth Hill) and his daughter (Tori Butler-Hart), and soon learn that shipwrecks are a way of life around the island and have lead to the massive dip in the locales’ population. The trio soon find themselves balls deep in a supernatural tinged quandary as they learn just why the populace, such as it is, remains in such a haunted and doomed location. Rematch Studios, an indie game developer from Pakistan, will be debuting their first game Area of Darkness: Sentinel in March of this year. The story takes place in 1978 in the North Sentinel Islands where players take control of Dr. Anne Evans who’s trying to solve the island’s mysteries. Evans will have to solve puzzles and face deadly creatures on her adventure as she encounters many colorful characters on her way. The game is mainly set up for VR but at the time of launch, a standalone non-VR version will be available as well. The game will be available for Steam and PC. Rematch Studios is one of Pakistan’s few game developers, let alone VR developers, who wish to strictly make VR games for both PC and Consol.

A gang of home invaders, some local sad-sack kids…who’s ranks include Kerry (Eden Brolin) the local Chief of Police’s daughter…who like to go out into the woods and trip balls, and a new couple in town. What do these disparate factions have in common? Well they all get caught up in one of those ancient pacts that require human sacrifice every 25 years that are all the rage with the youths of today. Long story short; the kids are the home invaders, they set out to rob the new folks in town, and quickly discover those folks are not to be fucked with as they are practitioners of the dark arts, and as said, those arts require sacrifice…and more, as Kerry becomes impregnated by the cult. This February Horror director Michael David Pate’s (Gefällt mir, Potato Salad) social media horror flick Haunted Hospital: Heilstätten takes along for an investigation into the haunted past of a famous hospital. The film tells the story of a group of vloggers who travel to Berlin to film a viral social media challenge by illegally accessing the abandoned, derelict military hospital Beelitz Heilstätten that once housed a recuperating Adolph Hitler, and documenting their experience spending the night in the ominous surgery block in the hopes that the video will go viral. They soon experience many strange events which terrorize them both physically and mentally.
