“Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina” Canceled By Netflix

Netflix has announced that following Part 4 of “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” which will premiere later this year, fans will have to say good-bye to the teenage witch. The series has officially been canceled. Working on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has been an incredible honor from Day One. The cast, beginning with Kiernan as everyone’s favorite teen witch, has been an absolute joy. I am beyond thankful to the crew, writers, editors, assistants, and everyone for pouring so much love into this dark dream of a show,” Executive producer and showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa states. “I’m also grateful to our partners at Netflix, Warner Bros., Berlanti Television and Archie Comics for letting us tell the story we wanted to tell, the way we wanted to tell it. Elisabeth Moss Staring In New True Crime Series “Candy”

True crime fans have a reason to celebrate tonight, Universal Content Productions (UCP) is making a new series, titled “Candy,” starring brilliant actress Elisabeth Moss (“The Handmaid’s Tale”, The Invisible Man). “Candy” is based on the true story of Candy Montgomery who hacked her friend Betty Gore to death on Friday the 13th, June 1980. The country was shocked by the viciousness of the crime after learning that Gore suffered more than 30 blows of Candy’s ax. According to Variety, several of “The Act” team will reunite for the new limited series. Robin Veith wrote the pilot and serves as executive producer along with Nick Antosca under his Eat the Cat banner. Moss will be executive producing as well along with Lindsey McManus. Co-producers include Jim Atkins and John Bloom. At this time, there is no network or streaming service attached to “Candy”. We’ll keep you posted.

Action Series “Most Dangerous Game” Now On Quibi

Starring Liam Hemsworth, season one of Quibi‘s new series “Most Dangerous Game” is now available exclusively on the streaming service. To celebrate, a second trailer has been unveiled. In the series, desperate to take care of his pregnant wife before a terminal illness can take his life, Dodge Tynes (Liam Hemsworth) accepts an offer to participate in a deadly game where he’s the prey. This dystopian action-thriller explores the limits of how far someone would go to fight for their life and their family. Let the games begin. The cast also includes Christoph Waltz, Sarah Gadon, Zach Cherry, Aaron Poole, Christopher Webster, Billy Burke, Jimmy Akinbola, and Natasha Bordizzo. Premiere Date Revealed For HBO’s “Lovecraft Country”

This August, take a trip to “Lovecraft Country,” from Jordan Peele, Misha Green, and J.J. Abrams. H.P. Lovecraft’s uniquely terrifying world collides with the Jim Crow era south in the new trailer for HBO’s new series “Lovecraft Country.” Based on the novel Matt Ruff, the first season takes viewers on a road trip through the 1950s, where threats of both racism and supernatural terrors loom. In the series, Atticus Black, his friend Letitia, and his uncle George embark on a road to try to find his missing father. Instead, Atticus is caught in a fight for survival and must overcome the racist terrors of America and terrifying monsters that could have been ripped from the pages of an H.P. Lovecraft novel. “Lovecraft Country” premieres on HBO on August 16th.

ABC Passes On ‘The Brides’ But The Series Isn’t Dead Just Yet

Earlier this year, ABC ordered the pilot for their vampire series “The Brides” from Roberto Aquirre-Sacasa (“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”) which centered on the Brides of Dracula. News has now come via Deadline that the series will not be moving forward at ABC but will be shopped to other networks. Gina Torres (“Hannibal”) and Goran Višnjić (“Timeless”) were set to star. The series is described as “a sexy, contemporary reimagining of the Dracula saga as a family drama with a trio of powerful, diverse female leads. With strong horror elements, a vampire soap about empowered, immortal women and the things they do to maintain wealth, prestige, legacy—and their non-traditional family.”

Quibi & Blumhouse TV Team Up For New Series ‘Nine Bodies In A Mexican Morgue’

Tom Ellis Signs On For Season Six Of “Luficer”

Good news has arrived for “Lucifer” fans! The series’ star Tom Ellis has wrapped contract negotiations for season six. Last month a dispute arose over his contract that if not worked out would have killed the show. With season five yet to premiere on Netflix and word of cancelation looming it seemed as if a miracle had happened when Warner Bros. and Netflix extended the series after it passed its deal for the fourth and fifth seasons. Like many series and films, the Covid-19 pandemic will affect its release. While the premiere date for season 5 is yet to be announced at least we know the show has a future. Speaking of futures, the titles of the season’s episodes tease some big events. Leigh Whannell’s ‘Upgrade’ Is Getting A Series Adaptation

Blumhouse Television and UCP, a division of NBCUniversal Content Studios, are teaming up for the series adaption of Leigh Whannell’s 2018 sci-fi, thriller Upgrade, which Whannell co-created and will direct, as well as executive produce along with showrunner Tim Walsh (Treadstone, Chicago P.D., Shooter). The series picks up a few years after the events of the film and broadens the universe with an evolved version of STEM and a new host in a world in which the government repurposes STEM to help curb criminal activity. A writer’s room has begun work on the series’ first season. Krystal Ziv Houghton and James Roland, who ran the second season of The Purge, have joined Whannell and Walsh.
