Starz has given the go ahead for the series based on the adaption of the Neil Gaiman’s best-selling novel ‘American Gods’. Starz promises to honor Gaiman’s story and vision and please the fans of the novel. Gaiman, who also created the Sandman graphic novels, will be involved with the series and serve as one of the show’s executive producers along with Bryan Fuller and Michael Green, who will be heading the show.

‘American Gods’ combines the legends of various religions and mythology and witnesses a battle between deities. Starz is currently looking for the right leading man for ‘American Gods’ to play the character Shadow Moon. Shadow Moon, the main character of the novel, is an ex-convict and a bodyguard of Mr. Wednesday, the incarnation of the Norse God Odin. It’s hinted that Shadow Moon is actually the reincarnation of Baldr, the Norse God of light.

Gaiman had this to say about the series: “I am thrilled, scared delighted, nervous and a ball of glorious anticipation. The team that is going to bring the world of  ‘American Gods’ to the screen has been assembled like the master criminals in a caper movie. I’m relieved and confident that my baby is in good hands. Now we finally move to the exciting business that fans have been doing for the last dozen years: casting our Shadow, our Wednesday, our Laura.”

I have to say, I am really looking forward to seeing ‘American Gods’. Gaiman is brilliant and both Green and Fuller are fantastic screen writers. I’m glad that Starz will be airing ‘American Gods’. There the show will not be censored as heavily as it would be on other networks.
