This will be Rodriguez’s fourth collaboration with the studio, including Machete, Machete Kills, and Predators, which he produced, and is currently filming Alita: Battle Angel, with James Cameron producing.
Rodriguez has many other titles to his credit including: El Mariachi, Desperado, From Dusk Till Dawn, The Faculty, Planet Terror, Grindhouse, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, and series such us From Dusk Till Dawn. His book ‘Rebel Without A Crew’ has influenced many filmmakers.
The 1981 original Escape From New York centers on condemned criminal Snake Plissken, dispatched to the island of Manhattan – now a quarantined danger zone – to rescue the president who has crashed and is in serious danger.
There is no word yet who will play Kurt Russell’s iconic role as Snake Plissken, but it is crucial that they cast someone who can play the badass role properly.
We will update you when we know more.
