Hannibal fans were crushed when the series was canceled by NBC. But like true fans they haven’t given hope that the series might return. And they’re not alone. The cast all want to return for a forth season. In an interview Mikkelsen was asked about the possibility of the show being picked up by another network. He stated that it’s all up to Fuller, who is currently working on the series adaption of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods.

It depends on Bryan. He is the key, the base, the heart, Mikkelsen said. “We will wait and see what happens next in his career. But we all know that we can easily pick this up in two or three years, there are breaks in the stories. We could pick it up, say, four years later. If Bryan is up for it, we will all go for it.

When asked if Fuller would be interested Mikkelson was quick to respond. “He loved it. It was his baby. Let’s wait and see.”

The forth season would pick up with the most famous of the film franchise, The Silence of the Lambs. I don’t know about you but I would love to see the show’s version the film.

There are rumors that the reason the show was canceled is due to an issue with procuring the rights to adapt The Silence of the Lambs.  Hopefully everything will soon be resolved and we can have the fantastic series back.

In Hannibal, Mikkelson starred along side Hugh Dancy who played Will Graham. Gillian Anderson, Caroline Dhavernas, Laurence Fishburne, Scott Tompson, Aaron Abrams, Kacey Rohl, and Lara Jean Chorostecki co-starred in the epic series.
