A new CW series will be heading to Crystal Lake. That’s right, we’re going to be getting a weekly dose of ‘Friday the 13th’. We reported back in August that a series was in the works. Now, the show is moving forward. Mark Pedowitz, network head of the CW Network, has confirmed that the ‘Friday the 13th’ series has entered production.
The drama will focus on a detective and his quest to find his missing brother, some how tied to Jason Voorhees. Jason, long thought dead, is back and the body count is rising. The once secluded camp, is now part of a thriving town and the town’s residents aren’t sure if Jason has really returned or if it’s a copy cat, but the killer needs to be stopped.
There will be a few changes to Jason in the show. The legendary killer is more grounded in reality and there may even be a few tweaks to the iconic mask.
Sean S. Cunningham, who was the head of the original 1980 movie, will be serving as executive producer. Craig Van Sickle and Steve Mitchell, creators of ‘The Pretender’ series, will be writing the script for the new series.
