Chopping Mall’s Steve Mitchell Talks About Documentary ‘King Cohen’ In Our Interview

Chopping Mall writer Steve Mitchell and I sat down for an interview. Not only did we discuss his classic horror films, we also talked about his new documentary King Cohen which examines the life and work of prolific filmmaker Larry Cohen. Cohen has a tremendous amount of work to his credit, including the classic horror film The Stuff, It’s Alive, Phone Booth, Uncle Sam, Body Snatchers, and Maniac Cop. But I’ll let Mr. Mitchell tell you all about that. Horror Fuel: “How did Chopping Mall come to be?” Steve Mitchell: “Jim Wynorski, who was a buddy of mine, was offered an opportunity because Vestron wanted me and Roger to produce a – there’s no way to say this nicely- dead teenager movie (it was the 80’s). Vestron wanted something that took place in a shopping mall. Jim called me up and said, “Hey, you’ve got a chance to get a movie off the ground if you want to try to

Movie Review: Wolfman’s Got Nards (2018)

Since this is a review of a documentary about the cult classic fright flick The Monster Squad that features testimonials of fans’ first experiences with the film, I’ll share mine! I vividly remember when The Monster Squad was coming out in cinemas. I was beyond excited to see a film teaming up classic creatures battling some resourceful kids…the thrills, the spills, the…the…fucking nothin’. That film never made it’s way to the Podunk cinema in my bucolic lil’ town, and there was no way in hell my parents were driving thirty minutes to the next closest theater to check it out. So I saw it when one of my friends taped it off from HBO. I really liked it. The end. Thankfully the stories in Wolfman’s Got Nards are much more entertaining and engaging than that ultra-shit yarn I spun above…though the end result is the same. People like The Monster Squad movie…I mean really, really like it, and their passion

Explore The Most Infamous Haunted House In ‘Amityville ‘76’

A one-man development (literally just one guy) is working on the most intriguing game to date, “Amityville ‘76”. The game takes place following the events of the “Amityville Horror” in 1976 the Lutz family fled their home in the middle of the night because of a demonic presence that was haunting them. Players will take on the role of an individual who was granted access to investigate the house to see whether or not the stories were true. The game itself is a cross between “Amityville Horror” and “Paranormal Activity” The developer painstakingly modeled the interior of the house to how it was when the Lutz family left, right down to the details of furnishings and items left behind. There will be two modes in the game, the story mode (investigation) and exploratory where you can explore the house without anything creepy happening. The game’s release date will be determined at another time since the developer is working on this

Gun Media Permanently Halts All ‘Friday The 13th: The Game’ Developments

Today, the makers of the popular multiplayer horror game, “Friday the 13th: the Game” announced there will no further developments or updates to the game. The game’s developer Gun Media’s founder and President Wes Keltner says all they (the developers) can focus on now with the game is fixing glitches/bugs in the game and maintenance on console servers. The plans for new Jason characters, locations, and councilors were slashed due to an ongoing lawsuit between the original film writer Victor Miller and its director/producer Sean Cunningham who currently owns the rights to “Friday the 13th”. Miller’s suit claims that he is, in fact, the rightful owner of the rights to the franchise since he was the one who wrote the story and created the famous mask wearing antagonist Jason Voorhees. Miller has hinted at some scorn in a past interview he did with us back in 2015. “I know this isn’t the news you wanted to hear and I wish

A Game 65 Million Years In The Making: Final Thoughts On ‘Jurassic World Evolution’

The awesome folks over at Frontier Developments gave me the chance to play their business simulation game, “Jurassic World Evolution” where players can play the role of the manager of Jurassic World located on the island chain known as The Five Deaths. There are five levels (islands) to play and each has something unique about them and, one very special island that’s a sandbox mode. On each island, you will be given tasks provided to you by three divisions, science, entertainment, and security. When you complete a task for a division will result in money and potential to unlock new dinosaur DNA or perks for your buildings but you must be careful as completing one task may affect your standings with the others and if one division is ignored for too long, they will sabotage buildings or gates to enclosures. The parks have star ratings and generally when you reach three stars the next level unlocks. To keep the numbers

A New ‘Friday The 13th’ Spinoff Is Headed Our Way?!

One of the most overlooked characters of Jason Goes to Hell is Steven Williams‘ bounty hunter character, Creighton Duke who dedicated his to hunting down and killing Jason Voorhees. It’s been 25 years since Creighton Duke’s battle with Jason, but it sounds like director Adam Marcus (Secret Santa) is interested in making a Creighton Duke spin-off. During a discussion with Cinema Toast Crunchcast earlier this week Marcus revealed the exclusive first information about what he describes as “a Creighton Duke-inspired film.” I have a movie… you’re the first ones I’ve talked about this to… that is a completely Creighton Duke-inspired movie,” Marcus said to the podcast. “We’re doing that next year. I can tell you that I’m talking with Steven Williams about this. I’m dead serious about this movie. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for years. For me, that was the character that I gave a crap about. That’s the guy that I adore. And, I’m tellin’ ya, I
