Movie Review: House on Elm Lake (2017)
Stop me if you’ve heard this one; a young family gets a great deal on a beautiful home due in no small fact that the previous owner murdered his family in cold blood after being acted upon by some sort of demonic force…and wouldn’t you know it, the new patriarch starts hearing the same voices and begins thinking his family would look better inside an oblong box. That’s House on Elm Lake in a nutshell…it’s also The Amityville Horror, so you’ve definitely seen what this film has to offer…so why should you give it your time and/or money? You shouldn’t. It’s boring, tedious, filled with sub-par acting and dodgy effects, and it’s idea of scaring the audience is to amp up the volume of the soundtrack, or have a character scream. But, I’m not the type of guy to not have something positive to say about the film, so here goes; thank the powers that be that this film runs

Neill Blomkamp Kicks Off Crowd Funding For ‘Firebase’ Feature Film
Last year, Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Chappie) debuted a series of short sci-fi-horror films. One of the films, Firebase, was then chosen by Blomkamp, based on fans’ reactions, to become the first feature film from Oats Studios. Firebase took us inside the hell that was the Vietnam War. Not only do U.S. soldiers come face to face with the enemy, they must face the River God, a creature with the power to raise the dead. Set during the Vietnam war, FIREBASE follows American soldier Hines through an ever deepening web of science fiction madness. Today, the crowdfunding campaign kicked off for the full-length feature of Firebase, but it’s not your run of the mill campaign. Blomkamp is setting out to make films outside of Hollywood that would give him unrestrained creativity. The campaign won’t be offering any perks other than seeing Blomkamp’s creations come to life. Blomkamp explains, “We want to build a 21st century studio that is funded directly

Jim Carrey Gets Serious In The Thriller ‘Dark Crimes’ (Trailer)
Jim Carrey may be best known for his comedic roles, but over the past few years, he’s been gaining attention as a serious artist. Speaking of serious, Carrey’s latest role is in Alexandros Avranas’ thriller Dark Crimes and it showcases Carrey’s talent as an actor with incredible range. In the film, formally known as True Crimes, “Carrey plays a police officer named Tadek, who finds similarities between an unsolved murder and a crime outlined in a book by famed writer Krystov Kozlow (Marton Csokas). As Tadek begins to track Kozlow and his girlfriend, a mysterious sex club worker (Charlotte Gainsbourg), his obsession grows and he descends into an underworld of sex, lies, and corruption to find the shocking truth.” Charlotte Gainsbourg, Marton Csokas, Kati Outinen, Vlad Ivanov, Agata Kulesza, Robert Wieckiewicz, and Piotr Glowacki co-star. Movie Review: Rave Party Massacre (2018)
Travel back…way back to the far flung past of 1992; there were no smartphones, no widespread internet usage…but what we did have was the ability to go to an ass cold warehouse dressed like a god damned idiot, gobble down some drugs, and dance to a bunch of whompa whompa garbage. In Rave Party Massacre, a squabbling couple enter into a scenario exactly like the one mentioned above…in a sequence that runs a staggering seventeen minutes (bear in mind that this film runs an hour and sixteen minutes including credits)…that’s seventeen long, tedious minutes of dancing (punctuated by some dry humping and puking ‘natch). The couple (and a handful of other folks) awaken after the rave to find themselves hunted by a masked killer. And that’s about all she wrote plot wise (there is some “New world Order” malarkey bandied about too…which does add a bit of uniqueness to the affair, but basically that’s the long and short of it).

Raising Awareness: Final Thoughts On ‘Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice’
This is a Spoiler Free article! Ninja Theory has released on Xbox One today their hit game Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice that received positive reviews when it was on PlayStation 4 and PC. Ninja Theory allowed me to play the Xbox One version early and write a review for it. After finally completing the game, all I can say is the last time I’ve ever played a game that made me sit back and say “Wow…” after completing it was Shadow of the Colossus on PlayStation 2 back in 2006. The following are my final thoughts on Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice a game that’s both haunting and beautiful. It’s no big secret; the storyline’s core is about Senua’s mental health, this would make her relatable to the 1 in 5 American adults who suffer from all ranges of mental illnesses. The developers kept it no secret that Senua suffers from Psychosis, right now you’re probably thinking negatively of her thanks in part
