True Crime Thriller 'Boneyard' Digs Up a Blu-ray Release Date

West Mesa Murders Subject of New True Crime Docuseries from Director of ‘Boneyard’

The chilling case of the West Mesa Murders is set to be the subject of a new docuseries. The horrifying discovery of 11 women’s remains in the New Mexico desert in 2009 shocked the nation and sparked one of the most complex criminal investigations in recent history. Director Asif Akbar, who just released the film Boneyard (inspired by the same case), will helm the docuseries. He joins forces with producers Vincent E. McDaniel and Brian A. Metcalf to delve deep into the heart of this unsolved mystery, Deadline reports. The series promises to examine the case comprehensively. It will feature interviews with victims’ families, witnesses, and law enforcement officials. Archival footage and clips from Boneyard will also be incorporated to provide a multifaceted perspective. While the possibility of a serial killer is suspected, other theories have been explored, including human trafficking. The case remains unsolved despite numerous leads and potential suspects. With a team of experienced filmmakers at the helm,

Dive into Our Interview with the Director of 'The Last Breath'

Dive into Our Interview with the Director of ‘The Last Breath’

The new shark film The Last Breath will open in theaters on July 26. Ahead of its release, I had the pleasure of talking with the director, Joachim Hedèn, about the edge-of-your-seat thriller. Hedèn is by no means new to the genre. He’s also behind the aquatic thrillers The Dive (2023) and Breaking Surface (2020), meaning he was a fantastic choice to direct the film, whose script was written by Andrew Prendergast and Nick Saltrese. The Last Breath centers on a group of old friends reuniting for a Caribbean vacation. Their idyllic reunion takes a horrifying turn when they explore a sunken World War II battleship. What begins as an adventurous dive quickly becomes a desperate fight for survival. With limited resources, dwindling oxygen, and surrounded by great white sharks, the friends must confront their deepest fears in a race against time to escape their watery tomb. The film stars Alexander Arnold, Kim Spearman, Jack Parr, Erin Mullen, Arlo Carter,

Spoiler-Free Reviews: The Unrighteous and The Last Stop in Yuma County

Spoiler-Free Reviews: The Unrighteous and The Last Stop in Yuma County

The Unrighteous Pseudoreligious cults are prevalent in some Asian countries. Shin’ichirô Ueda took a humorous approach at exposing the ways that such cults can sway people into their fold with his 2019 Japanese comedy Special Actors, and now Korean writer/director Kim Seon-kuk takes a more serious thriller/horror approach about such tactics with his engrossing The Unrighteous. Revolving around the residents of an aging apartment complex named Villa Wonjung and their desire to eventually profit from rising property values to move into fancier, more modern apartments, the story finds young head of household Joo-hyun (Lee Hyun-woo) pitted against neighbor Shin-hye (Moon Jeong-hee) whose sudden devoted involvement in a cult begins the recruitment of the other residents, including his mother. Aided by a young woman (Bang Min-ah) looking to expose the cult, Joo-hyun tries to use reason to stop the cult’s powerful influence while the residents’ fervor grows, and the cult’s underhanded ambitions grow increasingly dangerous. The committed performances by the three

Amy Adams' Life Has Gone to the Dogs in First Look at 'Nightbitch'

Amy Adams’ Life Has Gone to the Dogs in First Look at ‘Nightbitch’

The upcoming film Nightbitch, whose first images have arrived via Vanity Fair, sees Amy Adams‘ character surrounded by dogs, transforming into something new. This darkly comedic horror film explores the challenges of motherhood with a surreal twist. It centers on a stay-at-home mom, simply known as “Mother,” grappling with the monotony of suburban life. Adams’ character slowly begins to exhibit canine-like behaviors. This bizarre transformation is humorous and unsettling, offering a fresh perspective on the complexities of motherhood. Marielle Heller, also behind A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, directed Nightbitch, which Heller and Rachel Yoder co-wrote. The film is based on Rachel Yoder’s 2021 book. It promises to be a thought-provoking, hair-raising experience that will have you howling at the moon. As for the cast, Argo actor Scoot McNairy joins Adams. Mary Holland (Happiest Season), Kerry O’Malley (“Snowpiercer”), Ella Thomas, and Roslyn Gentle round out the film’s cast. Amy Adams has a talent for playing a wide range of characters,

Archie Comics Unleashes 'Truth or Dare'

Archie Comics Unleashes ‘Truth or Dare’

While many associate the spooky season with fall, summer offers its own brand of chills—especially when it comes to comics. The 90s reign supreme in the hearts of horror fans, and for good reason. These teen-centric slashers are perfect for summer breaks. Capturing that summer nostalgia perfectly, Archie Comics unleashes a one-shot thriller next week: “Truth or Dare.” Writer Ron Robbins and artist Laura Braga craft a chilling tale centered around Riverdale High’s newest student, Trula Twyst. Trula, a familiar face from Archie’s 90s kids’ comics, isn’t here to make friends. She’s a master manipulator, using behavioral psychology for her dark purposes. In the 90s comics, Trula used her skills on Jughead for comedic effect. This time, the stakes are much higher. Robbins cites horror icons like SAW, Mean Girls, Jawbreaker, and even the infamous “Slumber Party” episode of “Beverly Hills: 90210” as inspirations for “Truth or Dare.” Buckle up because you’re in for a wild ride! Archie Comics delivers

Box Set Review: Danza Macabra Volume 2 - Severin 4K/Blu-ray

Box Set Review: Danza Macabra Volume 2 – Severin 4K/Blu-ray

Remember way back to like last year when Severin released their collection of Italian Gothic fright flicks in a handy box set called Danza Macabra? Well, they went and released a second volume (and because I’m woefully behind, a third set as well… review coming soon) so lets do the film by film bag, shall we? First up is Antonio Margheriti’s (Yor: The Hunter From the Future) and Sergio Corbucci’s (1966’s Django) Castle of Blood from 1964, doubtless an answer to then-popular Edgar Alan Poe adaptations coming from legendary producer Roger Corman… hell, Poe even appears as a character in this very narrative (played by The Bloodstained Butterfly’s Silvano Tranquilli)! Speaking of Poe as we are, he’s balls deep into describing the final act of his story Berenice to his chum Lord Thomas Blackwood (Umberto Raho, The Last Man on Earth) when they are joined by journalist Alan Foster (Georges Rivière) who believes that the supernatural is a load of
