Aquaman Actor To Star As New Candyman

Director Nia DaCosta appears to have found his lead for his “spiritual sequel” to Bernard Rose’s 1992 classic Clive Barker adaptation, Candyman. Variety is reporting that Aquaman actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is set to play Candyman, a role made iconic by Tony Todd. Produced and co-written by Jordan Peele and Win Rosenfeld, the sequel returns to the neighborhood where the legend began, the now regentrified area once home to the housing projects known as Cabrini-Green. Candyman returns on June 12, 2020.

Super Bowl Hacked And Briefly Taken Over By The ‘Twilight Zone’

During the Super Bowl, a treasure trove of new trailers, first looks, and more were unveiled. At one point the game appeared to be hacked, revealing our first look at Jordan Peele‘s “Twilight Zone“. The series stars an incredible cast that includes Taissa Farmiga, John Cho, Greg Kinnear, Sanaa Lathan, Kumail Nanjiani, Adam Scott, Jacob Tremblay, Jessica Williams, Alison Tolman,DeWanda Wise, Rhea Seehorn, Jefferson White, Lucinda Dryzek, Jonathan Whitesell, Luke Kirby, Ike Barinholtz, Percy Hynes-White and “The Walking Dead” actor Steven Yeun. The anthology series is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions, and Simon Kinberg’s Genre Films. Peele, Kinberg, and Ramirez will be executive producing along with Win Rosenfeld and Audrey Chon. The original “The Twilight Zone” series that ran from 1959 to 1964, was created and hosted by Rod Serling. Peele will be hosting the new series that is set to premiere on CBS All Access on April 1, 2019.

A “Black Cloud” Hangs Over The ‘Us’ Super Bowl Trailer

The Super Bowl may have some football fans down, but it has horror fans happy as hell. First, we got our first taste of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, now the second trailer for Jordan Peele‘s US has been revealed. The best way to describe it is, dark and disturbing. Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o stars as Adelaide Wilson, a woman returning to her beachside childhood home for a getaway along with her husband, Gabe (Winston Duke) and their two children (Shahadi Wright Joseph, Evan Alex). Haunted by an unexplainable and unresolved trauma from her past and compounded by a string of eerie coincidences, Adelaide feels her paranoia elevate to high-alert as she grows increasingly certain that something bad is going to befall her family. Candyman Reboot Announces First Star And Release Date

Jordan Peele, whose “Twilight Zone” revival is set to premiere this April, has begun working on his reboot of the 1992 horror classic Candyman. In fact, the first star has just been announced. LaKeith Stanfield, who appeared in Peele’s hit Get Out, is set to star as Anthony, “a socially pronounced artist in Chicago who researches the urban legend of Candyman. After investigating the killer’s last known whereabouts, strange killings begin to occur.” There is no word yet if Tony Todd, the man who brought the iconic character Candyman to life in the original franchise, will reprise his role. I have a feeling that if he doesn’t fans won’t be happy. You can’t just replace an icon. Peele’s revamped version of Candyman is set to open in theaters on June 12, 2020. Shudder Announces February Premieres

Shudder’s ‘Horror Noire: A History Of Black Horror’ Set To Premiere This February

Shudder has announced the premiere of Horror Noire: A History of Black Horror, premiering on February 7th following special screenings in LA and NY this February. Based on the acclaimed book of the same name by Dr. Robin R. Means Coleman, Horror Noire takes a critical look at a century of genre films that by turns utilized, caricatured, exploited, sidelined, and embraced both black filmmakers and black audiences. The film also explores how black voices in front of and behind the camera shaped and impacted the genre. Syfy Reviving Rod Serling’s “Night Gallery” Series

CBS and Jordan Peele are working to bring back “The Twilight Zone“, but they are not the only ones working to revive a Rod Serling series in the genre, Syfy is currently developing a revival of Serling’s “Night Gallery“. The newly revamped series comes from the creator and executive producer of “Teen Wolf” Jeff Davis and David Janollari, the executive producer of “Midnight, Texas.” “The Night Gallery reboot will update the 1969 series for the digital age. Dark and twisted morality tales paired with Serling’s specific brand of irony, Night Gallery will explore and exploit every modern nightmare imaginable, mining our fears of the dangers of social media.” Deadline reports. The original series ran on NBC from 1969 to 1973. Serling served as the host of “Night Gallery,” introducing each segment of an episode by unveiling a painting tied to the segment’s story. Eli Roth’s Series “History Of Horror” Premieres This October

Eli Roth has brought us many horror films, including the Hostel franchise, 2o01 Maniacs, Cabin Fever, and The Green Inferno. Now. the writer-director is bringing genre fans a new AMC series, “History of Horror” whose premiere date has just been announced. Featuring masters of horror such as Stephen King, Jordan Peele, Robert Englund, Rob Zombie, John Landis, Jamie Lee Curtis and many more, the series will explore the genre, it’s history, its fans, and much more. Each one-hour episode will take viewers on a chilling exploration of how horror has evolved through the years and its impact on society as well as why fans remain addicted to fear. “History of Horror” will premiere on AMC on Sunday, October 14th at midnight eastern time.

Horror Racks Up Nominations At The Oscars

After years of being ignored, the horror genre is finally getting the recognition it deserves and racking up nominations at the 2018 Academy Awards with The Shape of Water and Get Out leading the way. Jordan Peele’s socially conscious genre thriller Get Out is nominated for Best Director, Best Picture, Lead Actor (Daniel Ksluuya), and Best Original Screenplay. When Peele heard the news he tweeted, “I just spoke to Daniel. You know when you’re on the phone trying to disguise the sound of an ugly cry? I failed at that.” Who can blame him?
