Tony Todd Is Reprising His Role As Candyman!

Principle photography began a month ago on the new Jordan Peele-produced installment of the Candyman franchise. While the lead role will be played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (US, Aquaman), fans have been awaiting news who will be playing the Candyman. We reported back in May that Tony Todd would be returning but it was not known in what capacity. Now, it appears Todd, who made the character a horror icon, will be returning as the man with the hook. The news came today and though it has not been confirmed by MGM, Bloody-Disgusting says they trust their sources when they say Todd will reprise his role. Described as a spiritual sequel, the film is being directed by Nia DaCosta and was co-written and produced by Peele, based on characters by Clive Barker. Lupita Nyong’o Stars In “Little Monsters” – Coming To Theaters And Hulu

NEON and Hulu has just announced the theatrical release of Little Monsters starring Lupita Nyong’o (Jordan Peele’s US) in 300 theaters on October 8th. But that’s not all, a one-time theatrical event for Little Monsters will take place at a TBA theater. The event will feature a live-stream Q&A with Nyong’o, her co-star Alexander England, and the film’s writer-director Abe Forsythe. Lupita Nyong’o Protects Her Class From Zombies In The ‘Little Monsters’ Trailer

Following her breakout role in Jordan Peele’s Us (review) Lupita Nyong’o stars as a schoolteacher in the horror-comedy Little Monsters, written and directed by Abe Forsythe (Down Under). The new trailer reveals the military gearing up to battle the undead and a field trip gone wrong. Nyong’o plays Miss Caroline, a teacher who fights to protect her students from a zombie outbreak during a field trip gone to hell. Miss Caroline teams up with Dave (Alexander England), a washed-up musician, and kids’ show host Teddy McGiggle (Josh Gad) to defeat zombies while trying to keep her students unaware of the outbreak. Little Monsters, which premiered at Sundance will hit theaters in the U.K. and Ireland on November 15th. A U.S. release date has yet to be announced.

Casting Update For HBO’s Upcoming Series “Lovecraft Country”

Jordan Peele‘s Monkeypaw Productions, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot, Misha Green, and Warner Bros. Television’s upcoming adaptation of Matt Ruff’s 2016 novel “Lovecraft Country” has had a change in cast. An Interview With ‘Child’s Play’ Actress Carlease Burke

Carlease Burke sat down to talk with me about her latest role, as Doreen in the upcoming Lars Klevberg-directed remake of Child’s Play. Set to premiere on June 21, 2019, and stars Aubrey Plaza in the role of a mother who gives her son (Gabriel Bateman) a Buddi doll for his birthday, unaware of its sinister nature. CBS All Access Renews ‘The Twilight Zone’ For Season 2

Today, CBS All Access announced that they have renewed “The Twilight Zone“, hosted, narrated, produced, and executive produced by Jordan Peele (Us, Get Out), for its second season. The series reboot of the classic anthology created by Rod Sterling features an incredible cast that includes Taissa Farmiga, John Cho, Greg Kinnear, Sanaa Lathan, Kumail Nanjiani, Adam Scott, Jacob Tremblay, Jessica Williams, Alison Tolman,DeWanda Wise, Rhea Seehorn, Jefferson White, Lucinda Dryzek, Jonathan Whitesell, Luke Kirby, Ike Barinholtz, Percy Hynes-White, and “The Walking Dead” actor Steven Yeun. “The Twilight Zone” is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Peele’s Monkey Paw Productions and Genre Films. A New Extended Trailer Takes You Into “The Twilight Zone”

Jordan Peele‘s reboot of the classic anthology series “The Twilight Zone” has a brand new extended trailer that gives us a taste of the first season and it looks amazing. Taissa Farmiga, John Cho, Greg Kinnear, Sanaa Lathan, Kumail Nanjiani, Adam Scott, Jacob Tremblay, Jessica Williams, Alison Tolman,DeWanda Wise, Rhea Seehorn, Jefferson White, Lucinda Dryzek, Jonathan Whitesell, Luke Kirby, Ike Barinholtz, Percy Hynes-White, and “The Walking Dead” actor Steven Yeun. The anthology series is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions, and Simon Kinberg’s Genre Films. ‘Candyman’ Director Nia DaCosta Says Tony Todd Has Not Been Replaced

Earlier this year we reported that Aquaman actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has joined the cast of director Nia DaCosta‘s “spiritual sequel” to the Candyman franchise. At the time we were led to believe that he would be taking over the role of Candyman originally played by Tony Todd. But that may not be true after all. DaCosta recently clarified Mateen’s role during a conversation with Collider. Well, it’s been slightly misreported,” DaCosta said. “I can’t say what’s happening in the film because we want it to be a surprise, but he’s not replacing Tony Todd. That’s been reported, and I was just like, ‘I don’t know what to say about this. This is not right.” At the moment we have no clue what’s going to happen in the film, but we’re glad to hear that Tony Todd has not been replaced.
