Writer-Director Jim Ojala Talks Movies, Mutations And ‘Strange Nature’ In An Interview

Jim Ojala has made quite a name for himself in the special effects world working on films like Where the Wild Things Are, Thor, Pacific Rim, and many others. Now, Ojala is making a name for himself as a writer/director of Strange Nature. I spoke with Jim about his eco-horror film and more and I have to say I was left very impressed with both his talent and his determination, he has spent the past fifteen years building up to make this film. Between its message, great story, and the talented cast it’s a winner in our book. In Strange Nature, by moving in with her estranged hermit father in the backwoods of a small town, Kim (Lisa Sheridan, “The 4400”) and son Brody find themselves in the middle of a horrendous phenomenon where deadly offspring mutations spread from animals to humans.” Based on true unsolved outbreaks of wildlife mutations, Strange Nature marks the directorial debut of FX master James

Top 10 Scariest Wrestlers

Wrestlmania is today! Whether you are a wrestling fan or used to be a wrestling fan or want to be a wrestling fan or can’t stand the sight of a wrestling ring…you have heard of Wrestlemania. Today, in New Orleans, is the 34th Wrestlemania and it promises many great matches and entertainment. That being said, if you truly care about wrestling, you already know that; therefore, I will get to my point. I thought that it would be appropriate today to do my first list for horrorfuel…are you ready…NO! I said ARE YOU REAAAADY!!!??? (Sorry….wrestling joke). Here we go, my top 10 creepiest/scariest wrestlers: 1 – Doink the Clown Doink is now a nostalgia act (not the last time I am going to use that term in this list). Blu-ray Review: City of the Dead (1960)

Originally released on these shores as Horror Hotel (Misfits fiends, take note!), City of the Dead is the tale of Nan Barlow (Stevenson), a young co-ed who travels to New England to investigate witchcraft at the behest of her college professor (Lee). Upon arriving in the small town of Whitewood things are rather bizarre; but it goes from bad to worse when Nan is marked for sacrifice by a coven of witches. Now that sounds like my kind of vacation, my creeps! Dripping with atmosphere and rich Gothic overtones, The City of the Dead is a “can’t miss” fright flick classic! Fog enshrouded locales, dilapidated buildings, graveyards, sinister locals, arcane ceremonies — this one has got all you crave from the “old guard” style of horror storytelling. While the film is an undeniable monsterpiece, the extras on this release offer a few treats for fright fans! You get a commentary track (one with no less than Christopher Lee himself), an

Back in 2006 director James Gunn made his feature film debut Slither starring Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games). Now, the two are reuniting for Gunn’s next projects, a horror film. THR is reporting that Gunn will produce the untitled film along with The H Collective. David Yarovesky (The Hive) will be in the director’s chair. Elizabeth and I have been on the same artistic page since we first met when she auditioned for Slither back in 2005. She’s since remained one of my best friends in the world, and I’ve been fighting tooth and nail to work with her again. She’s the perfect partner to Yarvo, the H Collective and myself in creating this very special project,” said Gunn in a statement. Mark and Brian Gunn penned the script for the film which begins production this Spring. In Slither, a small town is taken over by an alien plague, turning residents into mutant monsters. Nathan Fillion and Michael Rooker co-starred.
