Lund Fantastic Film Festival Goes Hybrid for 2020, Announces Poster and First Two Features

Lund Fantastic Film Festival — a Swedish fest presenting amazing horror, science fiction, and fantasy movies from around the globe — has scheduled a hybrid version for this year. Most screenings will be online through Spamflix with a select few in-person screenings during the fest’s October 28–November 1 run. Lund Fantastic has also debuted its poster for this year and announced its first two films. I have already seen Woman of the Photographs, and can recommend it as a hypnotic character study and psychological thriller with body horror elements and superb sound design. German chiller Sleep promises to be a gripping psychological outing, as well. The following information is from Lund Fantastic’s press releases and official announcements. For more information, visit https://www.fff.se/. At age 26, Lund Fantastic shows no signs of slowing down and is proud to go through with its 2020 edition (October 28–November 1), even if the current state of the world brings changes to the usual format.

Possession Horror ‘Hosts’ Receives New Brutal Trailer And October Release Date

From directors Adam Leader and Richard Oakes comes Hosts, a haunting possession thriller out just in time for Halloween. The newly released trailer has arrived, teasing a dark, brutal, gripping tale filled with intense action and horror. On Christmas Eve, an innocent couple becomes hosts to a malicious entity. Throughout the night they proceed to terrorize a family of five in unimaginably violent and disturbing ways. But these demonic possessions won’t end with this unfortunate family; they mark just the beginning of a horrific worldwide epidemic. Hosts was written by Adam Leader to keep viewers on the edge of their seats and

Sylvester McCoy Takes Us Inside ‘The Owners’ In An Interview

Sylvester McCoy is a name we should all know, between his roles in The Hobbit franchise and for his role as The Doctor in “Dr. Who” from 1987 to 1989. McCoy actually plays another doctor in the soon to be released horror film The Owners. That’s what we are here to talk about. The Owners stars McCoy alongside “Game of Thrones” actress Maisie Williams, Rita Tushingham, Jake Curran, Ian Kenny, and Andrew Ellis. In the brutal movie, a trio of young burglars enters the home of an older couple, not knowing that script is about to get flipped on them. The film is non-stop action, twisted, and definitely demented, in the best possible way. I sat down with McCoy to find out more about The Owners. This was our conversation. Horror Fuel: “What can you tell our readers about your role as Dr. Huggins, from your point of view.” Sylvester McCoy: “Well, he is a man who loves his wife

‘Seeds Of The Dead’ Is A Gory Ride Of Horror And Action: Book Review

Seeds of the Dead, the novel by Andy Kumpon and Gary Malick is an absolutely entertaining ride into horror, gore and everything we love about horror. With chemically-created, slime-spewing zombies running around gorging themselves on human flesh and an evil corporation as the puppet master, this is a story that has no down time. It is a wonderful, in-your-face novel that you won’t be able to put down. Characters One of the things I loved in Kumpon and Malick’s novel is the diversity of characters. Characters of different ideologies, ages, experiences, and depth were all represented equally well. Yes, there were main characters who had bigger roles, but there were no characters who were written weakly or with less care, regardless of how big of a role they played. Each character felt like they could be a real person with a whole lifetime of experiences behind them. The non-human characters I this book were just as impressive. The zombies were

The Weird World of Wild Eye Releasing: Part 4

As you have seen in the first three parts of this series (located here, here, and here) Wild Eye Releasing are filled to the beastly brim with all manner of horror biz available to satisfy you cats n’ creeps… and here come a few more to put on your revoltin’ radar! First title up is Mind Rage (2001): Schoolteacher Michael (Michael Rogue), is one fucked-up dude thanks to his outrageously traumatic childhood, and let me tell ya, his present isn’t going to go so smooth either when a mysterious blonde named Jessica makes the scene in both Michael, and his policeman brother, Jack’s (Charles Hallahan) lives. Things soon swan-dive into a neo-noir swirl of ultra-stabby serial murders where every mother fucker standing is a suspect! Atmosphere is the best friend of co-writer/director Mark Allen Michaels (aided and abetted by co-writer Gwendolyn Gadek), and he uses it expertly to give an experience not entirely unlike if Hitchcock had directed Se7en… if

4K Ultra HD Review: The New York Ripper (1982) and The House by the Cemetery (1981)

Those fine fiends over at Blue Underground are set to release their next wave of 4K Ultra goodness with two of Italy’s legendary fright flicks The New York Ripper (1982) and House by the Cemetery (1981)! Let’s let ‘er rip with the Ripper first! A dog discovers a severed hand in ol’ Manhattan town, and because this isn’t a Hanna-Barbera cartoon doesn’t immediately take on solving the murder mystery. Nope, that task falls on the world weary, prostitute fuckin’ shoulders of Lt. Fred Williams (Jack Hedley) who joins forces with psychoanalyst Dr. Paul Davis (Paolo Malco) to try and solve the case…and their asses better make like Sherlock Holmes toot-fucking-sweet ‘cuz the body count is getting rather high, as our duck-quacking psychopath carves up the ladies of The Big Apple like a Thanksgiving turkey! Holy hell is this one full-on sleazy, gory masterpiece boils n’ ghouls! Under he steady hand of maestro of mayhem, the legendary Lucio Fulci (who naturally

The Weird World of Wild Eye Releasing: Part 3

As you have seen in the first two parts of this series (located here and here) Wild Eye Releasing have scads of horror biz-centric material available; enough to satisfy countless graveyards full of slavering horror hounds. Don’t believe me? Check out this beastly bevy of terror titles! First title up is The Witch Behind the Door: Based on the legend of the “Witches of Benevento”, The Witch Behind the Door (or Janara as it was originally known) concerns the misadventures of Marta and Alessandro (played by Laura Sinceri and Alessandro D’Ambrosi respectively) who arrive in the village of San Lupo to collect an inheritance left to Marta. I mean some free dough is always cool, but the village gives the outsiders the cold shoulder right quick, but that’s understandable given all of the missing children and such… children who’s disappearance could be the work of a pedo or a coven of witches… I mean there couldn’t be any other answer

Blu-Ray Review: “Z” Scores A 5/5 !

I reviewed Shudder’s Z back in May, so of course, I was excited to get my hands on the Blu-ray a couple of days ago. As I sat down to watch it with a bag of popcorn, I couldn’t help but wonder if the movie would stand up to my original impression and the 5/5 score I gave it. I was wrong to even question it. It turns out, the Blu-ray is even better. The picture is crisp and the sound is great. The story itself is fresh, clever, and absolutely unnerving. A lot of people had an imaginary friend as a kid. Imagine if that friend came back when you were an adult and it is hell-bent on destroying your life by using your innocent child. That’s the premise of Z. The movie follows Elizabeth (Keegan Connor Tracy), a mother whose 8-year-old son has a new playmate, an invisible friend named Z. As her son’s behavior becomes more menacing
