Three New Haunting Clips Arrive From ‘Winchester: The House That Ghosts Built’

Three new clips have arrived for Lionsgate and CBS Films’ Winchester: The House That Ghosts Built, starring Oscar-winner Helen Mirren. The first clip invites you to “join the table”. In the next, we see a young boy possessed. And in the third clip, Sarah Winchester explains why she must continue to build. Winchester was both written and directed by Micheal and Peter Spierig. Jason Clarke, Sarah Snook, and Angus Sampson co-star in this haunting film based on a true story. In the film, based on a true story, “On an isolated stretch of land 50 miles outside of San Francisco sits the most haunted house in the world. Built by Sarah Winchester (Mirren), heiress to the Winchester fortune, it is a house that knows no end. Constructed in an incessant twenty-four hour a day, seven days a week mania for decades, it stands seven stories tall and contains hundreds of rooms. To the outsider, it looks like a monstrous monument

Bill Oberst Jr. Joins ‘The Late Shift’

Filmmaker Joshua Brucker and producer Kate Riffe have announced that casting has begun for their upcoming short horror film The Late Shift. Emy Award-winning actor and genre legend Bill Oberst Jr. is the first cast member to be announced and will star as “The Patient”, the film’s antagonist. The film centers on Beth, a night-shift nurse tasked with babysitting a quiet and near-empty patient wing. All is calm until a mysterious patient is brought it, exhibiting a high fever and sporting terrible wounds. He’s stabilized and all returns to normal. But Beth is new to the late shift and she eventually closes her heavy eyes and accidentally drifts asleep. When she wakes up, however, not all is as calm and safe as it once was. Her new patient, she finds, harbors a dangerous and deadly secret that could cost Beth her life. As a child, I remember the emotions I felt watching the classic horror films. As a director, I

Mothman In Chicago?!

Since February of last year, over 55 eyewitnesses in the city of Chicago have reported something strange flying in the sky and concluded that it’s the famous Mothman. Mothman is a cryptid resembling a tall man with large wings like that of a moth, its notable feature is its large red glowing eyes that resemble brake lights. The creature was first reported in 1966 in Point Pleasant, West Virginia and the sightings lasted until December 15, 1967, after the collapse of the Silver Bridge leaving many to believe that the Mothman was either a warning or harbinger of the incident that claimed 46 lives. The debate back then continues to this day, trying to figure out what exactly is the mothman, some say it’s a supernatural creature, others believe it’s an alien, and there have even been suggestions that it’s a failed experiment from WWII since most of the original sightings were around McClintic Wildlife Management Area or as the

Movie Review – Bad Apples is a Real Treat in the Stalk n’ Slay Genre!

Bad Apples is the type of class act picture that opens with a pregnant woman being stabbed to death and the two infants she carries being birthed post mortem right there on the kitchen floor. Well those two poor souls grow into teenagers…nearly mute teenagers who always (and I mean always) wear masks and have a demented streak a mile long (but more on that in a minute). Is all of that above distasteful, shocking, and downright surreal…you bet your arcane ass it is…it’s also one hell of a top-shelf way to start your fright flick (you know, pictures who’s main goal is to disturb). As Halloween arrives, those two precious darlings referenced up yonder go on your average, everyday kill spree…one fraught with gleeful sprightly tricks, buckets of blood, and absolutely zero remorse. Eventually our dastardly duo end up at the home of the new teacher in town Ella and things take a turn for the stalk n’ slay

Has Neill Blomkamp Chosen His Next Feature Film?

Throughout 2017 Neill Blomkamp released a series of intense, fantastic short horror film through Oats Studios. The titles included Rakka, Firebase, Zygote, and Lima. Each with a sci-fi horror feel. Back in July during our interview with Blomkamp, he revealed plans to turn at least one of his short films into a feature film. These are ideas. They are sort of vignettes into the world of ‘Zygote’, or the world of ‘Firebase’, or the world of ‘Rakka’. Once we make them and see how they look and how they feel and how the online audience responds to them, we can choose which one we feel like turning into a feature film. At this point, I don’t think that any footage or pieces that we have already shot would be used in the feature film. They are more like informative, tonal, references for writing new scripts and new stories.” It appears that Blomkamp has narrowed it down to Firebase or Zygote

Actress And Activist Rose McGowen Poised To Release Her Memoir BRAVE Later This Month

Rose McGowen, the actress of films such as Scream, Planet Terror, Grindhouse, and of course the hit series ‘Charmed’, is poised to unveil her personal memoir/manifesto titled BRAVE. Described as a “no-holds-barred, pull-no-punches” account of her rise as an icon and activist, BRAVE also reveals her desire for change in the entertainment industry and sheds light on the dark side of Hollywood and the multibillion-dollar business that she believes was built on systematic misogyny. McGowen wants to empower people everywhere to “wake up and be BRAVE.” My life, as you will read, has taken me from one cult to another, the biggest cult of all: Hollywood. BRAVE is the story of how I fought my way out of these cults and reclaimed my lie. I want to help you do the same.” McGowen has stated. Not only is Rose McGowen a writer, director, musical artist, former actress, entrepreneur, and feminist, she the founder of #ROSEARMY. McGowen made her directorial debut

Movie Review: A Duo of Demonic Docs Bring Creepy Cryptids to Your Home!

It’s a rare occurrence when your’s cruelly is sent a documentary to review; but today I have two for ya (I feel so F’n fancy); Invasion on Chestnut Ridge and The Mothman of Point Pleasant; two deep dives into cryptids, creeps, and catastrophe from the fine fiends at Small Town Monsters! So, without further arcane adieu let’s dip our freaky feet into some good ol’ monstrous mayhem! Invasion on Chestnut Ridge concerns a series of incidents that were mostly unknown to me (and believe me, I am always pleased as poison punch to learn about new paranormal occurrences). Chestnut Ridge sits in southern Pennsylvania; a rural area dotted with bucolic small towns; most of which have had brushes with U.F.O.’s, Sasquatch, hauntings, or some unholy combination of them all. Starting with a brief overview of the location’s history, the film begins in earnest with the story of a crashed U.F.O. in Kecksburg County in the mid 1960’s, commented on by

Movie Review: The Spiritualist Won’t Conjure Up Much Spirited Fun.

Poor Laura; her nights are filled with a real plastic hassle of screaming, unending terror…night terrors to be precise (this probably not helped by the fact she lives in a creepy-as-balls mansion). Any ol’ way, L-Dawg is also dealing with the recent death of her mother who was nuttier than a goddamned fruit cake. Naturally, there are only two answers to what’s plaguing our heroine: her mother is haunting her like a MF’er, or Laura too has a bad case of beastly bats in her belfry. Regardless, a medium is called, a seance is performed, and Laura and her friends experience a violence laden experience. No refunds. Let’s start with what works with The Spiritualist, shall we? Well, it’s well acted, with Caroline Burns Cooke as the titular spiritualist being a real standout (as is the entire seance sequence). I also enjoyed the unconventional approach to parts of the narrative (the film almost seems like two films in one…and more
