Movie Review: Into The Dark: Down (2019)

I’m a big fan of Hulu’s Into the Dark series, a run of 12 unrelated fright flicks released on per major holiday for a full year of which today’s feature Down will be the 5th entry…the films so far have been full of suspense and fun, and have been a devious delight to behold. Let’s see if that trend continues… Down concerns two strangers, Jennifer and Guy played by Natalie Martinez and Matt Lauria respectively, who become trapped in an elevator while trying to exit an office building on Valentine’s Day. They spend their time getting to learn about each other and try to make the best of their time trapped in that beastly box…but unfortunately, that is about all of a sinister synopsis as I can give without spoiling things, outside of saying things go dark along the way…and what with this being a horror series and all that should come as no surprise… Directed by Daniel Stamm and

Audition Tapes Reveal New Ghostbusters

While it’s been rumored that the original Ghostbusters will be returning for the new movie, nothing has been 100% confirmed. What do we know is that the movie will be passing the torch to a new generation. According to the audition tapes dug up by HN Entertainment, the new Ghostbusters will be kids. One of the kids to have landed a major role is 12-year-old actress Sarah Abbott. When they said young, they meant it. It sounds like they are taking a note from the “Stranger Things” playbook. Director Jason Reitman has teased a few details about the movie. I’ve always thought of myself as the first Ghostbusters fan when I was a 6-year-old visiting the set. I wanted to make a movie for all the other fans,” the publication quoted Reitman as saying. “This is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot. What happened in the ’80s happened in the ’80s, and this is

Netflix Announces It’s Reviving The “Unsolved Mysteries” Series

Growing up one of the most terrifying things on TV wasn’t a horror movie, it was the true-crime series “Unsolved Mysteries” that ran from 1987 to 2010. News has now come that Netflix is bringing the series back with the original show’s creators Terry Dunn and John Cosgrove on board. The new version will focus on a singular mystery and will ask viewers for their help to solve the case. “Stranger Things” producer Shawn Levy will be executive producing the 12-episode first season along with his 21 Laps partner Josh Barry. The original series starred Robert Stack for its first nine seasons on NBC before moving to CBS, then it moved to Lifetime before ending its run on Spike in 2010.

Blu-ray Review: The Forbidden Photos of a Lady Above Suspicion (1970)

Lonely (and rich) housewife Minou (Dagmar Lassander) spends her time pining for the affection of her husband Peter (Pier Paolo Capponi) who is never around. While walking alone one night, Minou is accosted by a weirdo who tells her Peter is, in fact, a murderer. She pays this insanity no mind, but soon the evidence appears to back up the stranger’s claims, and Minou finds herself tumbling into an ever deeper abyss of blackmail at the hands of the devious (and horny) creeper. Will Minou be able to regain a semblance of a normal life and escape this ordeal with her sanity intact or will she be destroyed by the blackmailer’s game? The Forbidden Photos of a Lady Above Suspicion appears to be a giallo, but honestly it isn’t; no black gloved killer appears…hell, no murder appears in the film at all…but what the film is is a mystery with giallo window dressing. Director Luciano Ercoli has infused the piece

In the film, from director Susanne Bier, on her way home for her first sonogram, Malorie (Sandra Bullock) along with her friend Jessica (Sarah Paulson) are suddenly caught in chaos as the city goes into a panic when a mysterious force attacks, sending those who see it into a suicidal rage. When their car flips Malorie is picked up by a group of people and brought into a home that is serving as a shelter for several survivors. For a time the group is safe. But they have learned that several patients have escaped a nearby mental facility but they haven’t been covering their eyes. They want to expose others to the entities. When the group of survivors take in a desperate man things go from bad to worse. As Malorie and another woman (Danielle Macdonald) go into
