‘Wrong Turn’ Reboot’s Title And Poster Racks Up Interest

Not only has the first poster arrived for the 2020 reboot of the Wrong Turn (*sigh), but the official title has also been revealed as Wrong Turn: The Foundation. Alan B. McElroy, the writer of the original Wrong Turn, wrote The Foundation, directed by Mike P. Nelson (The Domestics) and starring Matthew Modine (Stranger Things), Damien Maffei (Haunt), Bill Sage (Hap and Leonard), and Emma Dumont. Filming in Ohio has now wrapped and according to Movieweb, “The story will follow a new group of young friends venturing through the woods of the Appalachian Trail where they apparently take a wrong turn and come across a hidden society of people who’ve been living in the mountains for hundreds of years. Called “The Foundation,” this new group seems to be different in many ways from the inbred killers we remember from the other movies.” As soon as the 2020 premiere date is announced we’ll let you know.

Movie Review: ‘The Lost Footage of Leah Sullivan’ Should Stay Lost

A young woman sets out to make a documentary for school about a hometown murder. As the mystery unravels, Leah Sullivan, with the help of a local cop, begins to believe that something even more sinister happed to the slain family. She must ask herself, just how a rash of missing people is connected. This movie is the perfect example of found footage gone wrong. Ninty-five percent of the footage is bouncing, swaying, and fast-moving, it actually left me nauseous. What’s worse is that the last few minutes are filmed in pitch black with a single small-beam flashlight lighting the way making it nearly impossible to see anything. In between the action, we see what would have been cut if she had edited her documentary. Those scenes came across forced, fake, and over the top. The cop character, played by Burt Grinstead, is a bit unbelievable. Not many cops would break law after law after law for a stranger. The

Blu-ray Review: Road Games (1981)

It seems rando comely hitchhikin’ babes are finding themselves all murdered-up down Australia way. Travelling those same roads is wise-ass quip machine Pat Quid (Stacy Keach); a trucker who runs his mouth to his own captive audience; his pet dingo Boswell. On his journey, our hero meets all manner of wacky folks on the road… but none are stranger than the dude in the green van (Grant Page) that keeps turning up and acting more and more like the culprit of the horror biz listed previous. Before long, Quid picks up a hitchhiker named Pamela (Jamie Lee Curtis), and together the duo attempt to solve the mystery at hand… but Pam soon runs afoul of that vicious van and it’s up to quirky Quid to try and save the day! A bizarre mix of Hitchcockian suspense, trucker picture, and hallucinogenic mind-fuck, Road Games is as weird as it sounds, and it’s damn entertaining to boot! The film also comes in

‘Jurassic World Evolution’ DLC ‘Return To Jurassic Park’ Coming December 10th!

It’s time to get nostalgic, and by getting nostalgic I mean going back to Jurassic Park for real this time in Jurassic World Evolution’s upcoming DLC Return to Jurassic Park! Fans of the 1993 film will be happy to hear the voices of Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum reprising their roles as players are tasked with restoring the original park to its former glory and reopening the famed torch-lined gates again to guests! Included in the DLC are seven new story missions that will unlock the abilities to create new buildings such as the visitor center from the first film and the dreaded aviary from the third! With that said you can’t have an empty aviary in your park, so one of the new dinos you can clone is the Pteranodon! Along with the new flying-dino, there will be the Compsognathus (Compy) the cute tiny lizard that’s scarier in large numbers made famous from the film’s second installment.

U.K.’s Horror-on-Sea Film Festival Announces Its Stellar 2020 Lineup

Horror-on-Sea returns to Southend once again in 2020 with its biggest blood-soaked line up yet of independent film as the fest celebrates its eighth year. One of the UK’s biggest independent film festivals, it was originally formed to promote independent horror films. The fest gives an opportunity to fright-fare features and shorts that are not normally played on the big screen. Taking place at The Park Inn Palace Hotel (Southend-on-Sea), the festival will run over two weekends, from Friday, January 10 to Sunday, January 12, and then Friday, January 17 to Sunday, January 19. Many of the screenings of more than 36 features and 62 shorts will include introductions by the filmmakers themselves. I have reviewed the incredible Bloodsucker’s Planet for Horror Fuel (read here), and can highly recommend adding that film to your must-see list. Among the other announced features that I am greatly looking forward to are Peruvian fear-fare anthology Witch Tales, U.K. home invasion horror outing Nefarious,

First Two Stars Announced For Hulu’s “Monsterland”

The first casting news is here for Hulu‘s upcoming series “Monsterland.” Jonathan Tucker (Westworld, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, pictured above) and Kaitlyn Dever (Booksmart, Them That Follow, pictured below) are set to star in the premiere episode. The series is based on Nathan Ballingrud’s short story collection “North American Monsters“, which we first reported back in May. The first eight episodes of the series will feature tales of encounters with mermaids, fallen angels and other strange beasts that drive broken people to desperate acts in an attempt to repair their lives, ultimately showing there is a thin line between man and monster. In the premiere episode, “Overwhelmed and underwater, teen mother Toni (Dever) is trapped in her dead-end life until a mysterious stranger shows her that escape is possible… but only if she’s willing to pay for it.” The series was created by Mary Laws (“Preacher”) who will serve as the series’ writer and executive producer. Lucan Toh will executive produce

Atlanta’s Buried Alive Film Festival Offers Witches, Werewolves, and Weirdness

The 2019 edition of Atlanta’s Buried Alive Film Festival is chock full of outstanding, outrageous horror features and shorts from around the world. The fest is scheduled for November 13–17 at 7 Stages Theatre. Following are the features that I am most looking forward to seeing, either for the first time or once again. My thoughts in italics follow the fest’s official descriptions for each film. Antrum: The Deadliest Movie Ever Made Dir. Michael Laicini and David Amito – USA – 95min Antrum, a feature length film shot in the late 1970’s, is cursed. In 1988, a movie theatre in Budapest that was screening the film burnt to the ground, killing the 56 people who were in attendance. This incident follows the inexplicable deaths of a number of film festival programmers that had received Antrum as a submission and died shortly after watching the film. These events culminated with a riot during an exhibition in San Francisco, after which the

‘Do Not Reply’ Trailer Urges You To Delete Your Profile

The psychological social horror Do Not Reply is set to premiere at the New York City Horror Film Festival on December 6th followed by its screening at Another Hole in the Head Film Festival on December 14th. The award-winning film from the father-son directing duo of Daniel Woltosz and Walt Woltosz centers on Chelsea, an introverted teen, who falls prey to a handsome young man, Brad. Texting leads to phone calls and she agrees to meet Brad – a social media predator and button-down psychopath – at a Halloween warehouse party. There she is drugged and abducted and wakes up alone, chained, and in a fortified house with other girls whom Brad intends to kill in his virtual-reality-filmed murders. A chilling social commentary on the perils of digital connections, the fictional film will have one screening at each festival. Do Not Reply was created to send an important message about social media abductions,” said co-Director Daniel Woltosz, who wrote, directed,
