Movie Reviews: “Cosmic Dawn” and “Poser” (NIGHTSTREAM)

Movie Reviews: “Cosmic Dawn” and “Poser” (NIGHTSTREAM)

Cosmic Dawn In the science fiction/mystery feature Cosmic Dawn, as a child, Aurora saw her mother abducted by aliens. As a young adult, Aurora (Camille Rowe) has long been faced with psychological and medical professionals, along with those close to her, being highly skeptical about her claims. She has visions of a woman that lead her to a bookstore where employee Natalie (Emmanuelle Chriqui) explains about the woman, Elyse (Antonia Zegers), and invites her to a gathering of what turns out to be a UFO cult led by Elyse. Writer/director Jefferson Moneo’s Cosmic Dawn takes place in three different time periods — the time of Aurora’s close encounter, her initial time with the cult about a decade after that, and four years later, when cult member Dieter (Philip Granger) locates her and insists she needs to return to the cult. The transitions during this nonlinear approach are not always smooth, but everything starts blending together at a certain point and

Director Christopher Alender Talks ‘The Old Ways’ And ‘Muppets Haunted Mansion’

Back in September, I reviewed the new supernatural horror The Old Ways, calling it “one of the best horror films of the year.” I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with its director, Christopher Alender to discuss not only the movie but also Muppets Haunted Mansion which his production company Soapbox Films produced that premieres on Disney+ this week. In The Old Ways, which premiered at Sitges, “Cristina, a journalist of Mexican origins, travels to the home of her ancestors in Veracruz to investigate a story involving witchcraft and healers. Once there, she is kidnapped by a group of locals who claim that she’s possessed by the devil and that she needs to be exorcised. When she tries to escape this nightmarish situation, the woman starts to believe that her captors may actually be right…” Horror Fuel: “You’ve had quite the impressive career, like Muppets Now. I love the Muppets, Gonzo and Pepe are my favorites. I once had

30 ‘The Silence Of The Lambs’ Facts To Celebrate It’s 30th Anniversary!

30 ‘The Silence Of The Lambs’ Facts To Celebrate It’s 30th Anniversary!

The crime horror/thriller film that gave us the loveable cannibalistic serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter turned 30 this year on Valentine’s Day (when it was released in 1991). Since we’re getting closer to Halloween, why not share some interesting facts from both the film and the book that it came from, here are 30 facts about The Silence of The Lambs for you to chew on with a nice Chianti. Hannibal never once said “Hello Clarice” in the film, the misquoted line actually goes “Good evening, Clarice.” Ted Levine drank a lot of coffee before his audition to play Buffalo Bill resulting in a performance that impressed everyone. The real-life “Death’s Head Moth” (known as the Lesser Death’s Head Hawkmoth) does not have a pattern that looks like a skull on its back, but it does resemble a hooded face. Sir Anthony Hopkins based Hannibal’s voice on a combination of Truman Capote and Katherine Hepburn. The infamous dancing scene with
