Blu-ray Review: The Passion of Darkly Noon (1995)

A down-home gal who goes by Callie (Ashley Judd) takes in a confused, injured young dude with the unlikely name of Darkly Noon (Brendan Fraser). Well, seems our boy Darkly used to be a member of one of those batshit religious cults that the feds went Waco on. Anyway, Callie’s mute boyfriend Clay (Viggo Mortensen) comes into the scene and things begin to sour… and that trend only continues as Darkly meets Clay’s mama Roxy (Grace Zabriskie) who tells him his new “friends” aren’t who they appear to be… it involves witches and bullshit that she weaves together into a big ol’ lie tapestry for our rattled protagonist. What will obtaining this info hold for Darkly? I’ll sum it up for you; he goes completely off the deepest of deep fuckin’ ends. Existing in a bizarre world just a step left of our own, The Passion of Darkly Noon is a hell of a fever-dream thriller! Characters are either completely

Lines Between Reality And Creativity Blur: ‘Based On’ VS ‘Inspired By’

At one point or another, we all have seen “Based on a true story” or “Inspired by” on movie posters, book covers, and even in video games. As a result, we’re all guilty of it, we the audience immediately want to see, read, and play it because we want to experience the story, especially if its horror related! What happens afterward is a moment of either instant regret, confusion, or in some cases satisfaction without realizing we have a fishhook sticking out of our cheeks. We’ve all been there that after watching a movie “Based on a true story” we sit back thinking, “did it really happen?!” Or “come on that’s totally not how it happened!” and a lot of times… we’re in the latter…and we’re right, and it’s time to call out filmmakers, writers, and studios for misusing the terms “Based on” and “Inspired by” to hook audiences in for a disappointment! Movie Review: Juvenile Delinquents (2020)

Pedo ass-hat Frank (Jay Amari) gets him self unintentionally murder-ized by a gaggle of juvenile delinquents that come to the rescue of his latest victim Sarah (Corynn Treadwell). Given their past, these dudes are none to anxious to dial ol’ 911, so they get the shit-hot idea to torch Frank’s pad… but his wife Molly (Marie Smalley) arrives home just as the demented deed is about to go down, and finds herself a hostage as these killer kids, and their friends whom soon join them, decide their next step! As is the way, further static ensues, and the group, once splintered, grows stronger… but will their bond be enough to see them through this patch of dark waters? To clear the air a bit; Juvenile Delinquents would fall more on the drama side of the equation if one is trying to slap a label on it… but at it’s core this circles the exploitation/action side of things rather firmly. You
