Movie Review: Detective K: Secret of the Living Dead (2018)

18th century sleuth Detective K (Kim Myung-min) and his dumb-ass Doctor Watson surrogate cum sidekick Seo-pil (Oh Dai-su) travel the Korean countryside investigating a series of monstrous murders that perhaps have a preternatural cause…namely, folks are convinced vampires are roaming the land lookin’ for a fang bang thanks to bite marks on the ever growing number of corpses turning up. As the duo continue their investigation they discover that a rather gorg amnesiac (Kim Ji-won) may have a large part in the ghoulish goings-on. Will our erstwhile (and ridiculous) be able to solve the case with their jugulars intact? Let’s kick out the mother fuckin’ jams with the positives that Detective K: Secret of the Living Dead offers us. They are charming, funny, and infinitely watchable…which is a good thing as you will see in our next putrid paragraph. Also of

Movie Review: World of Darkness (2018)

Personal anecdote time (it’s relevant, trust me): I was always a Dungeons and Dragons type of guy (with some other tabletops thrown in), and never played Vampire:The Masquerade. The game seemed tailor made to my interests, and I had friends that played…hell, I even had some of the books (collected for the breathtaking Tim Bradstreet (who is interviewed in the doc) artwork, and avidly watched the TV show spun off from the game…but I never rolled a single die. Why? Who the fuck knows! Books could be written on the mind-boggling choices i made in my misspent youth…but this whole thing brings us to the review subject at hand… Comprised of interviews with the creators, players, and appreciators of Vampire:The Masquerade; World of Darkness is a deep dive into what made the game, and White Wolf, the company that created it, so special and influenced not only people to play the game but embrace the vampiric, Goth lifestyle as well.

‘Vampyr’ To Be Made Into A TV Series

FOX21 and DONTNOD Entertainment have reached an agreement allowing FOX21 to make a television series based on the game, “Vampyr” that came out back in June. We believe it is a fantastic premise for a television show. This is a new and exciting way for fans of the game, as well as the uninitiated, to enter and engage with VAMPYR’S rich, deep story.” Says DONTNOD CEO Oskar Guilbert, “We cannot wait to see how the talented team at FOX21 will bring out the darkly atmospheric universe of our game into television.” We are delighted to partner with FOX21 for the adaptation of VAMPYR into a TV series. DONTNOD has created a uniquely dark, immersive world with deep narration, which has made VAMPYR already a modern video game classic.” Agrees Jurgen Goeldner, CEO of Focus Home Interactive. “Vampyr” follows the tale of Dr. Jonathan Reid who became a vampire during the Spanish Flu epidemic of 1918 in which somehow many citizens

David Farrier Talks The Macabre And His Netflix Series “Dark Tourist”

Earlier this week I was scrolling through Netflix looking for something to watch. I was hoping to find something dark and interesting. I came across a new series, “Dark Tourist” and it fit the bill. I had no idea just how interesting it would be. The series, currently on the “Trending” list, follows host David Farrier as he travels to dark tourist locations, including many dangerous ones. After binge-watching season one of the show I had to talk to David, luckily, he was willing to answer some questions. “Dark Tourist” takes David to locations like Japan’s Suicide Forest and Fukushima. We watch as he spends time with a killer, he participates in a Voodoo initiation, and he took part in burial rites that include sacrifices and we see a family dig up the dead to pay their respects and to redress them. Now, we have our fingers crossed for a second season. David Farrier wears a lot of hats. He’s
