Blu-ray Review: Night (2006 – 2021)

Detective Mike Jericho (John Hardy) is in a bit of a pickle; you see he’s become a blood lappin’ fang banger after inadvertently turning a comely lass into so much Swiss cheese with his pistol (as one does). How did that happen you may ask? Well, even if ya didn’t ask I’ll tell you! The woman was a vampire, so dying by bullet wound wasn’t really her “thing”, and she turns Mike into one as well. So with Mike’s nocturnal pursuits keeping him from his day job, his co-worker Jimi Cannon (Shawn LeTang) begins searching for his chum, which of course puts him in direct opposition of the creatures of the night who have no intention of giving Mike back to the land of the living! Shot on a shoestring by multi-talented filmmaker/musician Byron C. Miller (who wrote the fright flick as well), Night represents an impressive, if low-tech debut from someone that continues to work in the horror biz

Dracula Party Unleash Their Debut Video “Trick or Treat”!

Remember when I gave you cats n’ creeps my wicked words regarding the new release from dark electronic wizards Dracula Party; The Devil Wears a Mask? Well, those arcane audio addicts have just released their first music video for the track “Trick or Treat” directed and edited by the band’s front-man Byron C. Miller (who helmed the fright flicks The Anatomy of Monsters and Night, as well as serving as writer and editor of the award winning short film, (in Here) I Am God). Miller had this to say regarding the creepy clip: “I wanted this to feel like a modern successor to the great 70s Giallo flms. I love working with saturated colors and surreal imagery to create nightmarish realities. It was great collaborating with the multi talented actress, Kay Whitney (Tall Men, Z Nation), who really dived into the lead role. I also have to give a shout out to long time collaborator, Paul Morgan (The Anatomy of

Music Review: Dracula Party: The Devil Wears a Mask E.P. (2019)

I’ve been following Seattle Washington’s Darkwave shock rockers Ghosts in the Graveyard since the beginning, so when they went on hiatus I was worried I’d never get their brand of synths and scares again… Such was not the case however, as the leader o’ this gang o’ ghouls Byron C. Miller, announced he’d be creating more monstrous melodies under the name Dracula Party (along with Chris Longo) and I was pleased as putrid punch when he sent me the bands debut E.P. The Devil Wears a Mask for revoltin’ review! Featuring five tracks of arcane audio, four originals and one cover tune (Nine Inch Nails The Becoming if you are keeping score at home), this E.P. presents musical journeys into landscapes full of vampires, demented Halloween shenanigans, killer robots, and Clive Barker inspired magik respectively. As you can doubtless surmise, Miller is a true monster kid through and through, and he wears his horror biz passions on his sinister sleeve…which

Short Film Review: (in here) I Am God (2018)

In a hidden bunker far below the Earth, a strange (and by strange this dude is an actual, full on monster) commandant (Nima Forghani) devises strategies for a great war. When not preoccupied with that, or snorting the ashes of cremated soldiers like cocaine, he focuses much of his unwanted attention on his secretary (Tiffany Astrid); a vamp that would give Vampira a run for her money. Looking for a way out of her predicament she enlists the aide of a soldier (Douglas Mckenney); who resides in a giant birdcage within the bunker when not doin’ the army biz, to help her with her demonic dilemma. Filled with gobs of silent film atmosphere, fever dream imagery, and a thing or two to say about war and women’s place in a tyrannical male society inspired in part by the film’s co-writer (along with Byron C. Miller who also edited the film)/actor/producer Nima Forghani’s experience growing up in 1980’s Iran; a country
