Movie Review: Mara (2018)

After a man is strangled in his sleep, and twisted into a knot like one of those massive-ass mall pretzels, the police immediately blame the dude’s wife, no matter who vehemently their daughter blames someone called ‘Mara’. Enter criminal psychologist Kate Fuller (Olga Kurylenko) who investigates the claims of the accused and before you can say “Frederick Krueger” she discovers that ol’ Mara is a demon that murders people in their sleep. As our heroine presses on she discovers the deceased attended a support group for sufferers of sleep paralysis, and when she takes it upon herself to attend a meeting she finds that the participants all seem to be haunted by Mara (who marks her prey with one hell of a case of pink eye) who is offing them one by one while they get their snooze on. ‘Polaroid’ Is Taking Longer To Develop Than Expected – Film Delayed

If you have been looking forward to the August release of Polaroid, from the producers of The Ring and The Grudge, you are about to be disappointed. Dimension Films has announced that the supernatural film needs a little more time to develop and won’t make its scheduled release date of August 25th. Instead, the film will be unleashed on December 1st, supposedly. Lets just hope it doesn’t end up in limbo like Amityville: The Awakening and Demonic, which wrapped back in 2015, have. Based on a short film by the same name directed by Lars Klevberg, Polaroid centers on high school loner Bird Fitcher, a young woman who has no idea what dark secrets are tied to the mysterious Polaroid vintage camera she stumbles upon, but it doesn’t take long to discover that those who have their picture taken will meet a tragic end. Madelaine Petsch, Kathtyn Prescott, Javier Botet, Katie Stevens, Mitch Pileggi, Keenan Tracey, Tyler Young, Shauna MacDonald,

Another Spin-Off For The Conjuring 2 ?

The Conjuring is headed towards being the franchise with the most spin-offs in history. There is possibly another spin-off on its way. And no, I’m not talking about Annabelle 2: Creation or The Nun. Annabelle: Creation producer Peter Safran said something very interesting while talking with JoBlo recently. He said that it is a possibility that the “Crooked Man” from The Conjuring 2 may get a film of his own. “…I suspect a movie with him would be really really cool.” He continued, “…we have some interesting ideas for him. So we’ll see.” The creepy long-legged entity, played by Javier Botet, was not CGI like many thought. That was just Botet in a skin tight suit. Safran explains, “None of it was CG. It was 100% practical. That actor just looks like that, we created an amazing wardrobe for him. Skin tight latex-basically suit.” I could definitely see a whole film based on the character, he is creepy as hell.
