Movie Review: Netflix’s ‘The Devil All The Time’

Netflix has a great track record with its originals these days (bar Cuties), so when I saw first saw the trailer for their thriller The Devil All the Time I was excited, however, neither the trailer nor the plot description prepared me for the true darkness of this film. First, the cast. With stars like Tom Holland, Bill Skarsgård, Robert Pattinson, Haley Bennett, and Jason Clarke, the film could have been one of those obnoxious movies that simply rely on star power, but that’s not the case. These stars come together to create a truly fantastic story whose events and characters are all connected to Tom Holland’s character Arvin Russell’s life story. But don’t get me wrong, we don’t just see glimpses of the other characters, we are put into their lives, dreams, and the hardships they endure. Every actor puts their heart and soul into their roles and it shows, each was amazing. Bill Skarsgård exudes the trauma, heartbreak,

Movie Review: Alone (2020)

Director John Hymas’ thriller Alone is an intense tale of one woman’s fight to survive as a serial killer hunts her down. A serial killer has set his sights on her and will stop at nothing to get her. Warning: Spoilers Ahead Jessica is a complicated character. She’s still coping with the loss of her husband and her family’s opinion that she’s making a mistake leaving town to start over. When Jessica stops at a gas station she meets a stranger (Marc Menchaca) who asks a few to many questions like where is she going, where is she from, if she’s traveling alone. Of course, this automatically raises red flags. Every time she stops he pops up and it doesn’t take long for her to realize that she’s

This October ‘The Curse Of Audrey Earnshaw’ Will Cast Its Spell On You

Writer-director Thomas Robert Lee takes viewers on a dark journey filled with religious paranoia, horror, and revenge set against the autumnal palette of the harvest season in 1973 in The Curse of Audrey Earnshaw. The film explores the disturbing bond between Audrey, an enigmatic young woman, and Agatha, her domineering ‘mother’, who live secretly as occultists on the outskirts of a remote Protestant village. As the community is besieged by a pestilence of unknown origin: children, fields, and livestock begin to die — yet the Earnshaw farm remains strangely unaffected. As mass hysteria sets in the village, the townsfolk commence accusations against Audrey and Agatha of witchcraft. Catherine Walker, Jared Abrahamson, Hannah Emily Anderson, Geraldine O’Rawe, Don McKellar, and Sean McGinley star in The Curse of Audrey Earnshaw, featuring Jessica Reynolds in the titular role of Audrey Earnshaw. I wanted to tell a story about legacy, and to specifically explore it within the context of a folk horror narrative,”says writer-director
