Movie Review: The House (2016)

During the final days of World War II, two German soldiers traverse the frozen Norwegian countryside with their prisoner of war. These Ratzis soon realize they are lost as balls, seeing as how their compasses are acting crazier than a shit house rat (nope, nothing strange here)…but, thankfully they find an abandoned house in the middle of nowhere to hunker down in. Things seem to be going swell; they can rest, warm-up…maybe shit, shower, and shave…but of course this is a fright flick, so this is merely the calm before the supernatural storm; as this arcane abode has one of those “evil pasts” that the kids are so wild about these days, and before you can say “Haunted Hitler” our “heroes” are in over their heads in supernatural goings-on! Writer/Director Reinert Kiil (Christmas Blood) has delivered something with The House that I can truly say I have never seen in my decades in the horror biz; a “cabin in the

Santa Has An Ax To Grind In The Brutal Holiday Slasher ‘Christmas Blood’

Santa is on his way this December you better hope you’re not on his list. From Norwegian filmmaker Reinert Kiil (The House) comes the brutal holiday-themed Santa lasher Christmas Blood (aka Juleblod). “Christmas is a time of peace, love, and family. But not for one Norwegian town as a psychopath dressed in a Santa Claus suit has been terrorizing them for the past 13 years. For as soon as the caroling starts, this demented Kris Kringle dispenses bloody ax blows regardless of whether you’ve been bad or good. As the holiday approaches on one snow-covered town filled with revelers, a pair of detectives work against time to find and arrest this bearded serial killer. Will they manage to stop this demented St. Nick before he kills again? Director Reinert Kiil (The House) delivers a dark, disturbing and bloody holiday thriller.” Julianne Aga, Pernille Baggeranas, Ida Malene Smith Bakke, Solje Bergman, Asbjørn Buarøy, May Lydia Eistø, and Helene Eidsvåg star. Movie Review: Christmas Blood (2017)

Ho, ho, mother fuckin’ ho; what do we have here boils n’ ghouls? A Christmas set thriller where a slashin’ Santa works his way through a group of victims. Good to see originality is still alive and well in the ol’ horror biz… Anyway, there is a killer Santa that terrorizes folks with a pick-ax every Yuletide, and this year he brings his murder biz to a small Norweigian town where a group of female friends have gathered for a reunion. Things get bloody for our comely heroines and soon their mortality is seriously in jeopardy. Thankfully for them, a grizzled (and alcoholic) detective and his gung-ho partner make the scene, and they are bound and determined to bring these horrible holiday homicides to a swift end! While I may have brought the sass up-top, Christmas Blood, for all of it’s trope-heavy elements, nevertheless delivers some effective storytelling and visuals. Writer/Director Reinert Kiil (with that name, fright flick Director was
