Blu-ray Review: The Bloodhound (2020)

Estranged college chums Francis (Liam Aiken) and Jean Paul (Joe Adler) re-unite as ol’ JP has some sort of malady and could use a helping hand or two, and Francis is down on his luck and needs a place to stay. Also in the abode is JP’s twin sis, Vivian (Annalise Basso), whom Francis has a past with… but JP tells Francis to stay away from her as she’s become violently unhinged… but as is the way, the two do meet, and Viv has a doomsayer bag to lay all upon our hero involving her brother. Also in the mix is the eponymous Bloodhound, a crawling, faceless figure springing forth from JP’s nightmares that exists only to destroy the occupants of whatever house he decides to grace with his unholy presence… so Francis is in for one hell of a visit, that’s for damn sure… The Bloodhound, a slow-burn, loosey-goosey interpretation of Edgar Allan Poe’s The Fall of the House

Blu-ray Review: A Serbian Film (2010)

Look, most of you lot want nothing to do with A Serbian Film… I know I didn’t ever want to again… but it got sent my way for review from the fine fiends at Unearthed Films and MVD Entertainment, so here we are… The long and short of A Serbian Film goes as follows: ex-porn star Miloš (Srdjan Todorovic) is livin’ the quite life with his wife (Jelena Gavrilovic) and son… though he does return to “the biz” when low on dough. This opens the door for Vukmir (Sergej Trifunovic), a director of questionable motives to enter the scene with his “art film” he wants ol’ Miloš to do his magic in… but this being a film of questionable motives, the film is a sort of snuff film… and that’s the most pleasant aspect of the production…a production that may be the end of Miloš body and soul… Writer/director Srdjan Spasojevic (along with co-writer Aleksandar Radivojevic) go waaaay too far

Blu-ray Review: Event Horizon (1997)

Dr. William Weir (Sam Neill) is brought on board the Lewis and Clark, a deep space rescue vessel under the command of the no-nonsense Captain Miller (the legendary Laurence Fishburne); the mission at hand: explore the Event Horizon… a ship (shaped like a massive crucifix no less) Weir designed that went missing near a black hole seven years prior… before mysteriously re-appearing, which 9 out of 10 dentists will agree “es no bueno”. Blu-ray Review: Nosferatu in Venice (1988)

Some duck hunters shoot down a bat which a dog then eats like a complete mother fucker. Thus begins 1988’s Nosferatu in Venice in the only way it possibly could. Next up we have the arrival of the that most Van Helsing of Van Helsings; Professor Paris mother fucking Catalano… yeah I have no clue either, but he’s played by Christopher Plummer (Starcrash) so bonus… and the way he glides into Venice standing straight as an arrow on a fast moving gondola is some big dick energy for sure (and there’s a mirror image of it utilized later in the film that is jaw-droppingly beautiful). Anyway; Catalano is down Venice way to research the last recorded appearance of that dread vampire Nosferatu (Klaus Kinski, who you can bet we’ll be talking more about soon) in the plague-ridden late 1700’s… and yes, the vampire’s name is Nosferatu… not Count Orlok… not Dracula… mother fucking Nosferatu… which just means vampire. Yes indeed…

In the future, the galaxy’s greatest form of entertainment is Cosmoball; a form of space soccer involving athletes that can teleport from all ends of the universe and beyond! Today, I’m here to discuss director David S.Hogan’s supernatural thriller The Parish. Scripted by Todd Downing, The Parish stars Devil’s Rejects actor Bill Oberst Jr., Angela DiMarco, Sanae Loutsis, and Ray Tagavilla. The film starts off with the heartbreaking story of a family grieving the loss of Jacob, a husband, and a father. With a plan of starting over, Liz and her daughter Audrey (Sanae Loutsis) move to a new town. It’s not long before the two begin to meet people that others can’t see. The ghost of Jacob gives them stern and mysterious warnings. Luckily, the local priest is there to help when things become darker and more dangerous, revealing the story of a dangerous mystery that has plagued the town for over sixty years. Alex McAulay (Flower) makes his directorial debut with the film that centers on two brothers (Fionn Whitehead, Jack Dylan Grazer) who are struggling with life. Their father has passed away and their mother (Mena Suvari) is gravely ill. When the brothers break into a home and steal a large sum of money they think it will make their lives easier but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Movie Review: ‘Dead Again’ – Now Out On Amazon Prime

Dead Again…where to start? When I sat down to watch writer-director Steven M. Smith’s zombie/alien movie Dead Again I had high hopes, after all, the trailer looked decent. I mean the movie is being described as “Hot Fuzz meets Shaun of the Dead,” so it has to be good, right? My high hopes lasted all of five minutes. As we meet our main characters, two cops played by Tony Fadil and Elliot Cable, they are having a conversation about movies. Soon they get a call about intruders at a closed hospital where they find a couple noising around. It’s not long before the place is swarmed by zombies or are they, zombies? Zombie/aliens, zomiens? You see, aliens are attacking the world. The film is supposed to be funny? Campy? Hell, I don’t know.
