TNT’s ‘Tales From The Crypt’ Is Dead

Last year, we were excited to report that TNT was reviving Tales from the Crypt with M. Night Shyamalan at the helm. Soon after the show ran into a series of problems and was delayed do to rights issues. Now, news has come that the series is dead in the water. TNT president Kevin Reilly told Deadline that the series has been abandoned and that their focus has turned to Ridley Scott’s upcoming sci-fi anthology series. That one got really caught up in a complete legal mess unfortunately with a very complicated underlying rights structure. We lost so much time, so I said,’Look, I’m not waiting around four years for this thing’. Maybe that will come back around but in the meantime, Ridley Scott had come up, who has so much creative enthusiasm.” Tales from the Crypt was meant to be part of TNT’s new horror block that includes the new series Time of Death and Creatures. Until it’s said

Movie Review – ALIEN: COVENANT Isn’t ALIEN Yet, But It Doesn’t Have To Be

It’s been ten years since Peter Weyland financed the ill fated Prometheus expedition, intent on finding and meeting the supposed creators of the human race or “engineers”. Now Weyland Corp. has become Weyland Yutani, and their focus is now that of “building better worlds”. To that end the company has sought out other habitable distant planets for the purpose of colonization. The crew of a Colony Ship named Covenant are charged with transporting over 2,000 cryo-slumbering colonists and over 1,000 frozen embryos to their destination on the planet Origae-6. During the voyage, an energy flare from an exploding star causes damage to the ship, causes the death of a few colonists and the ship’s captain, who becomes trapped in his cryo-stasis pod as it encounters a catastrophic malfunction. The rest of the crew having been awakened by the mission’s synthetic crew member, Walter, assess the damage and begin repairs. As they complete the necessary repairs to Covenant, they receive transmission

Ridley Scott Has Spoken On The Fate Of Neill Blomkamp’s ALIEN 5

In 1979 Ridley Scott deftly merged the genres of horror and science fiction with his legendary film, Alien. Then 57 years later, Ellen Ripley would face off against the xenomorph threat again – and this time she’d have backup. OK it was actually only 7 years later that Jim Cameron, would continue on where Scott had left off with his sequel, Aliens. And although it’s more of a sci-fi action thriller and less horror, it has a definite place in the franchise and is a classic in its own right. Then there was Alien 3, the fork in the road so to speak. This third installment was left in the hands of rookie director, David Fincher, despite the fact that they didn’t really seem to trust him enough to direct it according to his vision. Fincher cited incessant studio intrusion as the biggest reason he not only couldn’t make the film he wanted, butr was also why he walked off

Women (In Horror) Crush Wednesday: ALIEN DAY TWOFER! Sigourney Weaver And Veronica Cartwright

Greetings, my Little Xenomorphs. Yes, I know you’re all accustomed to the moniker of Little Monsters, but today is the 26th of April or 4/26, thus making it ALIEN DAY! I trust I don’t need to explain the relevance of the number combination in relation to the movie Alien. BUT, for those of you who don’t know, it’s a reference to the planet, known as LV-426, where the crew of the star-freighter Nostromo first encountered the facehugger that “impregnated” Ash (played by the late great John Hurt). OK, that’s enough of that, because we’re here to focus on TWO wonderful Women of Horror today. That’s right, count ’em…one, two. As you can clearly see, the focus today is on the only two female female cast members of Ridley Scott’s classic 1979 film, Alien – Veronica Cartwright and Sigourney Weaver. Both of these ladies would grace the world with their presence in 1949. Veronica A. Cartwright was born on April 20th
