(Trailer) Documentary ‘Kubrick By Kubrick’ Examines The Mind Of Legendary Filmmaker

Take a look at the trailer for the documentary Kubrick by Kubrick which takes us into the mind of legendary filmmaker Stanely Kubrick. The film features rare insight into his films with interviews he conducted with the veteran French film critic Michel Ciment, who had a 30-year relationship with the filmmaker and interviewed him at length on four occasions, despite Kubrick famously shunning the press. This is the first time that audio has been harnessed and it will appear alongside exclusive material from the Kubrick family, Deadline reports. Kubrick’s legendary career includes films such as The Shining, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Full Metal Jacket, and A Clockwork Orange Grégory Monro directed the project produced by Martin Laurent and Jeremy Zelnik. Maciej Kubicki and Anna Kępińska served co-producers. The documentary was meant to premiere at the Tribeca film festival which was canceled due to the pandemic.

Horror fans are possibly one of the most passionate when it comes to anything related to the genre. This love for the films even goes as far to have theories about the stories of the films we love, of course, every film genre has its fan theory base, but when it comes to horror, you got to admit there are some interesting ones out there. ‘Doctor Sleep’ Is Getting A Spin-Off

While Mike Flanagan’s adaptation of Stephen King’s The Shining sequel Doctor Sleep wasn’t a huge smash at the box office, it’s getting nothing but praise. You may be wondering where the franchise will go from here, we can answer that. Warner Bros. has already struck a deal with Flanagan to write a spin-off based on the character of Dick Hallorann, simply titled Hallorann. The chef of the Overlook Hotel was made famous by Scatman Crothers in Stanely Kubrick’s The Shining. The character was most recently played by Carl Lumby in Doctor Sleep. There is no word yet if Lumby will reprise his role in Hallorann or if multiple actors will play the Dick Hallorann. Doctor Sleep is now playing in theaters.

Ewan McGregor stars as adult Danny Torrance in Mike Flanagan‘s Doctor Sleep, both an adaptation of King’s novel of the same name and the sequel to King’s classic The Shining. Today, the final trailer has arrived for Doctor Sleep and it’s incredible. Flanagan rewrote Akiva Goldsman’sadaptation of King’s 2013 novel which picks up with Danny in his 40s, struggling with the scars of his time at the Overlook Hotel and the same demons of anger and alcoholism that plagued his father. Now, a new generation is in danger. But can he help them? In the film, “On highways across America, a tribe of people called the True Knot travel in search of sustenance. They look harmless—mostly old, lots of polyester, and married to their RVs. But as Dan Torrance knows, and spunky twelve-year-old Abra Stone learns, the True Knot are quasi-immortal, living off the steam that children with the shining produce when they are slowly tortured to death.” Alex Essoe

‘The Shining’ Getting A 4K Ultra HD And Blu-Ray Release Just In Time For Halloween

Warner Bros, Home Entertainment has announced that Stanley Kubrick‘s 1980 masterpiece The Shining will be getting a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and Digital release this October. Now widely regarded as one of the greatest horror films ever made, The Shining was directed and produced by Kubrick, who wrote the screenplay with Diane Johnson. The film 144-minute Stephen King adaptation stars Jack Nicholson in an iconic role as Jack Torrance, Shelley Duval as Wendy Torrance, Scatman Crothers as Dick Halloran, and Danny Lloyd as Danny Torrance. The 4K remastering was done using a new 4K scan of the original 35mm camera negative at Warner Bros. Motion Picture Imaging. Filmmaker Steven Spielberg and Stanley Kubrick’s former personal assistant Leon Vitali worked closely with the team at Warner Bros. during the mastering process. In 2018, The Shining was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.” The film ranked

All Work And No Play Makes “The Shining” A Dull Film

Does Anyone Remember? The Shining film has had plenty written about it. Spielberg made it a center plot point in Ready Player One, focusing on the fact that its creator, Stephen King, hated the film. I think that was a great scene, and far more entertaining in some respects than the actual film. You can read just one of many King articles on this HERE. Cynema is not about film reviews. It’s looking at cynicism in filmmaking and entertainment. Kubrick’s translation of King’s novel has a certain amount of cynicism to it. After some online conversations, I thought I would get this out and off my plate. Was Kubrick a tad cynical in his vision for The Shining? Nostalgia has given Kubrick’s “horror masterpiece” a free pass, in my opinion. Many forget that the film’s 1980 release saw tepid reviews and an indifferent reception.
