Movie Review: Netflix’s ‘The Devil All The Time’

Netflix has a great track record with its originals these days (bar Cuties), so when I saw first saw the trailer for their thriller The Devil All the Time I was excited, however, neither the trailer nor the plot description prepared me for the true darkness of this film. First, the cast. With stars like Tom Holland, Bill Skarsgård, Robert Pattinson, Haley Bennett, and Jason Clarke, the film could have been one of those obnoxious movies that simply rely on star power, but that’s not the case. These stars come together to create a truly fantastic story whose events and characters are all connected to Tom Holland’s character Arvin Russell’s life story. But don’t get me wrong, we don’t just see glimpses of the other characters, we are put into their lives, dreams, and the hardships they endure. Every actor puts their heart and soul into their roles and it shows, each was amazing. Bill Skarsgård exudes the trauma, heartbreak,

Movie Review: Alone (2020)

Director John Hymas’ thriller Alone is an intense tale of one woman’s fight to survive as a serial killer hunts her down. When Jessica (Jules Willcox) backs up her belongings and heads off to start a new life in a new town she has no idea of the horrors she is about to face. A serial killer has set his sights on her and will stop at nothing to get her. Warning: Spoilers Ahead Jessica is a complicated character. She’s still coping with the loss of her husband and her family’s opinion that she’s making a mistake leaving town to start over. When Jessica stops at a gas station she meets a stranger (Marc Menchaca) who asks a few to many questions like where is she going, where is she from, if she’s traveling alone. Of course, this automatically raises red flags. Every time she stops he pops up and it doesn’t take long for her to realize that she’s
