I Smile Back‘s Adam Salky has taken his place in the director’s chair for Netflix‘s upcoming home invasion thriller Intrusion, THR reports. Written by Chris Sparling (Buried), the film stars Logan Marshall-Green (Upgrade) and Freida Pinto (“The Path”). The film centers on “a husband and wife (Marshall-Green and Pinto) who move to a small town, and suffer a home invasion that leaves the wife traumatized and suspicious that those around her might not be who they seem.” Sparling, Kyle Benn, Josh Weinstock, Alexandra Milchan, Matthew Myers, and Russell Hollander are producing.

With the release of the southern gothic thriller The Devil to Pay, I sat down with the husband and wife writing, directing, and producing duo Ruckus and Lane Skye to talk about the film and their writing process. The Devil to Pay centers on an Appalachian woman named Lemon (Danielle Deadwyler) who must fight to save herself, her son, and her home after her husband disappears and a powerful family demands her husband’s debt be paid, or else. Horror Fuel: “I love the location you chose for your film. There’s just something about the mountains. And they also seem sort of like a character in the film. It’s great cinematography. How did you go about capturing that?” Ruckus: “We shot in Hiawassee, Georgia, about two hours north of Atlanta. It’s actually a pretty town. Ivy (Toby Poser, who also co-wrote and co-directed along with John Adams) is a psychic who has lost her supernatural spark, but the show must go on if her teen daughter Echo (Zelda Adams) is gonna eat, so she just kind of wings it going forward. Speaking of Echo, drunk driver Kurt (the aforementioned Adams) swerves to miss a deer and instead gets Echo under his wheels. This of course forces him to throw Operation: Save Ass into high fuckin’ gear, and he chucks Echo in the back of his truck and heads off to cover up his crime! Here we have a real treat I’m lookin’ forward to slappin’ my putrid peepers upon; namely the Barry J. Gillis Triple Threat Collection! Let’s take the demonic dive, shall we cats n’ creeps? First up is 1989’s Things! After a dream sequence involving a fully nude woman in a devil mask and a mutant baby, we get down to brass tacks with the meat n’ potatoes of Things. Our hero Doug (Doug Bunston) is nowhere to be seen as his brother Don (Barry J. Gillis, who wrote and produced) and his pal and Fred (Bruce Roach) ransack his house for beer and play a weird ass demonic tape and rifle through his books. Doug returns and yells at them, but the goofs don’t scram; instead they drink more beer, look for cockroaches to eat, and try to tune into the beastality network on TV… also drink beer. You may think this makes little to no sense, and it doesn’t… but

Thriller ‘Sweet Pain’ Acquired For US Release

Sweetwater Pictures, Aved Productions, and Bruise Productions have just announced that following a successful theatrical run in Spain (its country of origin) the critically acclaimed “Giallo” inspired thriller Sweet Pain (aka Dolorosa Gioia), written and directed by Gonzalo Lopez has been acquired by Leomark Studios for North American distribution.
