Spoon Fed Horror

Expect more from your entertainment. Don’t be spoon fed. Whether film, literature, music, even video gaming…refuse to be dumbed down. As I move over the half way point in post production for “Death House” I’ve had time to reflect on the film and wonder how it will be received. The latest news on yet another “Friday the 13th” installment is it will be an origins story. I guess my question is…was there ever that much there in the first place to warrant an origin backstory? Doesn’t it defeat the point of making a simple slasher film to entertain, scare and titillate? Do we really need an origins story whether on Pamela Vorhees or Jason or how Camp Crystal Lake was founded? The Millennial Generation and after are said to be too literal. They need everything spelled out for them. They have all the information they need on their phones. Why think? Why extrapolate? Hell, why even dream? School is taught

In Death House, “Agents Toria Boon and Jae Novak have their own dark pasts, arriving at Death House to tour its levels and observe its denizens first hand as well as the medical and mental experiments of Drs. Final Destination – A Look Back At The Deadly Franchise

A few days ago, news came that Tony Todd has confirmed that Final Destination 6 is finally entering production. I thought it would be a good time to take a stroll down memory lane and look back at the films that make up the death-filled franchise. The franchise began in 2000 with the first movie, directed by James Wong. Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Sean Williams Scott, Amanda Detmer, and Tony Todd star in this fan favorite. After a teenager has a terrifying vision of himself and his friends dying in a plane crash, he prevents their deaths by exiting the plane. Moments later, the plane departs and blows up mid-air. Now Death is hunting them down, one by one. . . Final Destination 2, released in 2003 and directed by David R. Ellis, stars Tony Todd, Ali Larter, A.J. Cook, Michael Landes, David Paetkau, James Kirk, Keegan Connor Tracy, Jonathan Cherry, Terrance Carson, Justina Machado, and Alejandro Rae. The movie

Tony Todd Confirms Final Destination 6 Will Begin Filming Later This Year

Tony Todd, the name is synonymous with a deep voice that sends chills down your spine, and brings to mind the role of the hook-handed supernatural killer Candyman. The tall (6′ 6″), imposing man is far from the dark, brutal character he’s most well known for. In fact, he’s a kind, laid-back man who goes above and beyond to show love to his many fans and to help those in need. Todd took the stage at the Texas Frightmare Weekend for a Q&A. He discussed his time as the character Kurn, on the series Star Trek: The Next Generation. He was asked about was his current role as the voice of Zoom, one of villains on The Flash, as well as his upcoming role as a ghost on the new series Dead of Summer. He also spoke about Frankenstein, and how he thinks the 2015 film didn’t get to attention it deserved. Todd shared one piece of news during the

The Road to Death House Part 1

Let’s build on Eli Roth’s prescient observation. I have written quite a bit on cynicism in filmmaking. If you are just coming to my series, stop here. Go back and read my other pieces. Then you can read this in context. However, he is talking about a SMALL percentage of fans. This is not a general description at all. We prefer to focus on the majority of horror fans that do the opposite of Roth’s comments. I have provided an open door, a very wide door, into the production of a movie since “Death House” started filming. “Death House” is my fifth feature film: the fifth I have written and the third I have directed. It’s been a long road, and frankly, I am doing what no one else is doing in Hollywood, making consistent, high quality product on very low budgets. I’ve made one film a year since doing this profession full time. “Death House” was brought to me
