‘Candyman’ Director Nia DaCosta Says Tony Todd Has Not Been Replaced

Earlier this year we reported that Aquaman actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has joined the cast of director Nia DaCosta‘s “spiritual sequel” to the Candyman franchise. At the time we were led to believe that he would be taking over the role of Candyman originally played by Tony Todd. But that may not be true after all. DaCosta recently clarified Mateen’s role during a conversation with Collider. Well, it’s been slightly misreported,” DaCosta said. “I can’t say what’s happening in the film because we want it to be a surprise, but he’s not replacing Tony Todd. That’s been reported, and I was just like, ‘I don’t know what to say about this. This is not right.” At the moment we have no clue what’s going to happen in the film, but we’re glad to hear that Tony Todd has not been replaced. So that leaves the question of who will Yahya Abdul-Mateen II play? Here’s what we do know: Teyonah Parris

Candyman Reboot Announces First Star And Release Date

Jordan Peele, whose “Twilight Zone” revival is set to premiere this April, has begun working on his reboot of the 1992 horror classic Candyman. In fact, the first star has just been announced. LaKeith Stanfield, who appeared in Peele’s hit Get Out, is set to star as Anthony, “a socially pronounced artist in Chicago who researches the urban legend of Candyman. After investigating the killer’s last known whereabouts, strange killings begin to occur.” There is no word yet if Tony Todd, the man who brought the iconic character Candyman to life in the original franchise, will reprise his role. I have a feeling that if he doesn’t fans won’t be happy. You can’t just replace an icon. Peele’s revamped version of Candyman is set to open in theaters on June 12, 2020. Here’s a look back at the original film’s trailer.

New ‘Final Destination’ Movie Is Headed Our Way

Final Destination fans have been begging for a new installment for years and they’re finally getting their wish, sort of. THR is reporting that Final Destination is getting a “re-imagining”. New Line Cinema has hired horror writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan to pen the script. The duo is most recognized for writing four of the Saw films as well as Piranha 3DD. Dunstan is also working on the upcoming Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark film. The first Final Destination debuted in 2000 and was hit, bringing in $122 million. That’s not bad for a film made on a $23 million dollar budget. With non-stop thrills and seriously epic kills, I’m not surprised it made fans happy. There is still a question as to whether or not Tony Todd will be reprising his role, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed. Hopefully, we’ll know more soon. In the meantime, here’s the original’s trailer.

Get Ready For One Hell Of A Wild Ride ‘Hell Fest’ Is Coming To Blu-ray And DVD This December

This December get ready for one hell of a bloody wild ride with Hell Fest, the action-packed horror film from director Gregory Plotkin, the editor of Get Out and Happy Death Day, and the director of Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension. In the film, a group of friends are bound for a horror-themed Halloween event at a local amusement park — a sprawling labyrinth of rides, games, and mazes that travels the country and happens to be in town. But for one visitor, the ghoulish carnival of nightmares is not the attraction — it is a hunting ground. On the night the friends attend, a masked serial killer turns the amusement park into his own playground, terrorizing attendees while the rest of the patrons believe that it is all part of the show. As the body count and frenzied excitement of the crowd continue to rise, who will fight to survive the night? The slasher film stars Amy Forsyth (TV’s

New Gnarly ‘Hell Fest’ Trailer Makes Us Nostalgic For The 80s

Are you ready for Hell Fest? We are! Luckily, it opens in theaters Friday and ahead of the carnage, we have the new gnarly (good) 80s style poster and trailer and they’re totally bitchin’ (for those of you born after the 80’s, that means it’s awesome). In the throwback trailer, we get a better look at the masked killer and see more action. It’s like watching the trailer for Nightmare on Elm Street or Friday the 13th again for the first time. From director Gregory Plotkin, the filmmaker behind Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension and editor of Get Out, comes this twisted tale about a masked serial killer who turns a horror-themed amusement park into his own personal playground, terrorizing a group of friends while the rest of the patrons believe that it is all part of the show. Written by Seth M. Sherwood, Hell Fest stars Amy Forsyth (Rise), Reign Edwards (Snowfall), Bex Taylor-Klaus (The Killing), Christian James (Nashville),

Jordan Peele Is Currently In Talks To Remake ‘Candyman’

One of the most iconic horror films to come out of the nineties was Bernard Rose’s Candyman, the Urban Legend tale adapted from Clive Barker’s “The Forbidden” featured in the “Books of Blood”. Candyman, played by Tony Todd, often doesn’t get the respect he deserves, the character is a true horror icon in every sense of the word. I’ll be honest, my friends and I never got to the fifth “Candyman” in front of the mirror that was meant to conjure him. It’s been twenty years since we heard anything concrete about a new installment of the Candyman franchise, but that has just changed. Bloody Disgusting is reporting that Get Out director Jordan Peele is currently in talks to produce another film for the franchise, a remake, under his Monkeypaw Productions banner. No director has been announced at this point, but Rose himself stated two years ago that he would love to make a “proper” sequel with Virginia Madsen returning
