Netflix’s New Vamp Series “V Wars” Bares Its Teeth This December

Netflix is continuing to add to its horror library with its latest series “V Wars” which will bare its teeth this December. Ian Somerhalder (“Vampire Diaries”) stars as “Dr. Luther Swann, who enters a world of untold horror when a mysterious disease transforms his best friend, Michael Fayne (Adrian Holmes), into a murderous predator who feeds on other humans.” In the series, based on Jonathan Maberry’s best selling books, “As the disease spreads and more people are transformed, society fractures into opposing camps pitting normal people against the growing number of these ‘vampires. Swann races against time to understand what’s happening, while Fayne rises to become the powerful underground leader of the vampires.” The 10-episode vampire series also stars Jacky Lai, Peter Outerbridge, Kyle Breitkopf, Kimberly-Sue Murray, Greg Bryck, and Anthony Grant. “V Wars” premieres on Netflix on December 5, 2019. ‘Vampyr’ Now Out On Nintendo Switch!

Nintendo Switch users can now stalk their prey in the damp streets of London in time for Halloween! Focus Home Interactive and DontNod’s gothic tale of choice and consequence, Vampyr has now found its way onto the platform. Vampyr takes players to the mean streets of 1918 London during the Spanish Flu Epidemic as the newly-turned vampire Dr. Jonathan Reid. Along with the flu spreading through the city, so has vampirism, leading Reid to investigate the cause of the rise of vampires in the city, the cause of the flu outbreak, and the truth as to what happened to him. ‘Round this time last year I gave you lot my thoughts on Panther Ridge (which you can read here)…a demented deep dive into the world of BDSM. Well, lo and behold; Writer/Director Ryan Swantek is back with another sinister short, this time featuring a take on legendary real-life vampire Countess Elizabeth Báthory de Ecsed! Comprised of a single sequence, Báthory: Virgin Blood shows our vicious vamp (Darryl Sposato) doing what she does best…namely liberating a comely virgin (Kaylee Giza) of her precious life’s blood, and then ensconcing herself in that sweet red sauce in order to maintain her beauty eternally. Warner Brothers have just unleashed a real terror treat for fang bangers everywhere; a duo of discs starring that demonic Dracula and his vampire hordes courtesy of the haunted Hammer House of Horror! So let’s grab a slice or two of extra garlic pizza and give Dracula A.D. 1972 and The Satanic Rites of Dracula a wicked whirl! Hulu Sinks Its Fangs Into Anne Rice’s “Vampire Chronicles”

Hulu is bringing Anne Rice‘s “Vampire Chronicles” to life in new original series. The book series was co-written by Rice’s son Christopher. Bryan Fuller, the showrunner for both “Star Trek: Discovery” and “American Gods” was attached earlier this year to write the script but has since stepped away, THR reports. The book series, which includes “Interview with the Vampire” follows an 18th-century French Nobleman Lestat de Lioncourt who becomes a vampire, travels the world, and even becoming a rock star. The 12th book in the series, “Blood Communion: A Tale of Prince Lestat” will be out later this year.

Movie Review: Queen Dracula (2017)

The long and short of Queen Dracula goes as follows: in a modern day twist on Bram Stoker’s classic, widower Jonathan Harker (Danny Zanelotti) travels to Transylvania and becomes under the spell of Queen Dracula…and imagine the surprise of Jon-boy’s daughters Lucy (Emily Miller) and Mina (Abigail G. Holmes) when they meet their potential new step-mother “D”; a real fang banger that’s out to put the bite on anyone that stands in her way! I’m not going to mince words…Queen Dracula is one of the most amateur productions I have put my eerie eyeballs on in a damn sight. Filmed on…I don’t rightly know…but I will tell you it has zero cinematography, lighting, professional (or in some cases even competent) acting or special effects (though Q.D.’s contact lenses are cool), this film is absolutely the equivalent of the S.O.V. material you would find on video store shelves in the late 1980’s…and you know what; fucking kudos to Writer/Director Curtis Everitt

Sundance Now and Shudder have teamed up for the first time and acquired the rights to author Deborah Harkness‘ best-selling novel “A Discovery of Witches” for a series adaptation. The series has an amazing cast that includes Emmy® nominated actor Matthew Goode (The Crown, Downtown Abbey), Teresa Palmer (Hacksaw Ridge), Alex Kingston (Er, Doctor Who), Valarie Pettiford (Being Mary Jane), and Owen Teale (Game of Thrones). Movie Review: Detective K: Secret of the Living Dead (2018)

18th century sleuth Detective K (Kim Myung-min) and his dumb-ass Doctor Watson surrogate cum sidekick Seo-pil (Oh Dai-su) travel the Korean countryside investigating a series of monstrous murders that perhaps have a preternatural cause…namely, folks are convinced vampires are roaming the land lookin’ for a fang bang thanks to bite marks on the ever growing number of corpses turning up. As the duo continue their investigation they discover that a rather gorg amnesiac (Kim Ji-won) may have a large part in the ghoulish goings-on. Will our erstwhile (and ridiculous) be able to solve the case with their jugulars intact? Let’s kick out the mother fuckin’ jams with the positives that Detective K: Secret of the Living Dead offers us.
