‘The Keeping Room’ premiered last year’s Toronto International Film Festival. The home-invasion western was written by Julia Hart and directed by Daniel Barber, who has been quoted by Bloody-Disgusting as saying “The Keeping Room focuses on the violent resilience and dramatic camaraderie of three Southern women as their home is besieged during the purges at the close of the American Civil War. Forced to defend their land and fight for their lives, the women take up arms against their male oppressors, shattering gender and genre conventions in the process.”
Brit Marling (I Origins) is the leader of the group that includes Hailee Steinfield (Ender’s Game) and Muna Otaru in her acting debut. ‘Avatar’ actor Sam Worington, plays the role of a villainous solider who has set his sights on killing the women.
‘The Keeping Room’ premiered at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival, and was met with great reviews. The film will be in theaters across the U.S. on September 25th, to be followed by it’s release on DVD, VOD and Digital Download.
