Last year it was reported that a TV series was in the works for The Purge. Blumhouse has now announced and confirmed that the hit film franchise will indeed be adapted for a series.
James DeMonaco, who wrote and directed all three films of the franchise, will be in the director’s chair for the new series. Blumhouse, which is be re-launched as an independent TV studio with ITV Studios will co-produce with Universal Cable Production.
The series, which depicts a 12 hours period where there are no laws, no help, will air on both USA and Syfy, EW reports.

The first film, simply titled The Purge, was released in 2013, followed by The Purge: Anarchy in 2014, and The Purge: Election Year released last year. I would not be surprised if a fourth film is announced soon. We will keep you posted.
