YouTube Star Sailor J Cast In AMC’s “NOS4A2”

Casting has begun for AMC’s upcoming series adaptation on Joe Hill’s “NOS4A2”. Today we’ve learned via Deadline that YouTube star Jahkara Smith (aka Sailor J) has been cast as Maggie Leigh, a recurring role in the supernatural horror series. Maggie is a bubbly, purple-haired librarian with a Scrabble Bag portal to the universe. “NOS4A2” centers on Vic McQueen, a young, working-class artist who discovers she has a supernatural ability to track Charlie Manx, who appears to be an immortal. Manx feeds off the souls of children, then deposits what remains of them into Christmasland – a twisted Christmas Village of Manx’s imagination where every day is Christmas day and unhappiness is against the law. Vic must find a way to defeat Manx and rescue his victims – without losing her mind or falling victim to him herself. A First Look At Last Of Us, Inspired By A True Story

The practical FX horror film Last Day (aka The Best of Me) has released its first images filled with demons and a dick that as a mouth and teeth. Yes, you read that right. Albania’s first horror film, from Domiziano Cristopharo, was inspired by the true story of Ricardo López, the man who stalked musician Bjork. Lopez’s obsession with the Icelandic singer spanned several years. He became enraged when she began to see musician Goldie. Following months of strange video diary entries, Lopez sent Bjork a package filled with sulfuric acid in hopes of killing her or at least maiming her. He quickly committed suicide and when police found his body and video diary they were able to intercept the package before it reached the singer. Jacopo Tomassini, Elisa Carrera Fumagalli, and Bjordi Mezini star.

Ralph H. Baer: Father Of Video Games

July 8th is Video Game Day, a day where gamers celebrate by sharing their favorite games, talking about their gaming memories, and engage in the age-old argument on which is better console or PC. While we (gamers) celebrate both the nostalgia and future of gaming, there’s one person we really should celebrate, Ralph H. Baer (1922-2014). Without Baer, we probably would never have had gaming systems. So who is he? Baer was born in Germany in 1922. Life was hard for Baer and his family due to the social and political firestorm that was taking over Germany at the time, and that they were Jewish. In 1938 at the age of 16, Baer’s family moved to New York, two months later the infamous Kristallnacht took place. After becoming a citizen, Baer worked in a factory (for $12 a week) and was self-taught. While at a bus stop, he saw an advertisement for degrees in electronics in which he quit his

Movie Review: To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story (2017)

Kane Hodder is Jason Voorhees…I mean he isn’t actually the masked maniac, Jason is a fictional character (in case any of you are complete idiots) but, he was definitely the actor that made the role his own, and gave the Friday the 13th film series’ icon a real personality (not an easy task considering Hodder’s face is never seen on film without heavy prosthetic make-up, nor does he utter a single line of dialog in his four on screen stints as the character) comprised of distinct movements. And as you can imagine, any documentary about the man had better well and duly cover his most famous role…and this one satisfies in that department for sure, but there is so much more to learn in To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story. Has Spawn Cast An Avenger As Twitch?

Jamie Foxx is set to star in writer-director Todd McFarlane‘s Spawn. Now, other casting news is slowly starting to trickle in. According to That Hashtag Show, Jeremy Renner has now been offered the role of Twitch Williams, the films’ other lead character. Twitch is described as “an honest detective who will team up with Spawn as he seeks vengeance for the murder of his young daughter.” This hasn’t been confirmed by Renner or McFarlane, but we’ll let you know when it is confirmed or if it’s denied. Renner, who plays Hawkeye in the Captain America and Avengers franchises, most recently starred in the comedy Tag which is now playing in theaters.

Tory’s Jones’ ‘Angel’ Hits Hard In First Trailer

The first trailer for Tory Jones‘ Angel has been released, revealing a female antagonist. Written and directed by Jones, the film stars Sonya Delormier, Cameryn Zupon, Tyler Riley, Chelsea Skalski, Brady A. Myers, and Talia Schade. Angel follows a group of journalists who are hired by a wealthy contractor to investigate his daughter’s disappearance while visiting a long-abandoned town. Volumes of Blood franchise creator P.J. Starks produces along with Richard Stringham (Close Calls). As soon as a release date is announced for Angel we’ll let you know. In the meantime, check out the brand new trailer.

Sigmund Freud Hunts A Serial Killer In New Netflix Series ‘Freud’

Streaming monster Netflix has now given the green light for a new series featuring a young Sigmund Freud. The Austrian series, simply titled “Freud“, follows the young doctor as he teams up with a medium and a cop to hunt down a serial killer in 19th century Vienna. The German-language eight-episode show will be directed by Marvin Kren (4 Blocks) who is co-writing the series with Stefan Brunner and Benjamin Hessler. Heinrich Ambrosch will executive produce with Moritz Polter. ZDF Enterprises is handling international sales. “Freud” is currently casting and will begin production this fall, THR reports. Sigmund Freud (1856-1939) is considered the founding father of Psychoanalysis, a method for treating those with mental illness. His theories about human behavior were groundbreaking. He was the first to consider that events from our childhood shaped our behavior as adults. His technique of talking with patients over a period of time became the standard in the way psychologists care for patients.

Movie Review: Animal Among Us (2018)

Merrymaker Campgrounds has a bit of a bad rep…I mean sure two girls were savagely murdered there a few years back, but the case was chalked up to an animal attack and that’s all she wrote, right? Fuck no, what the hell kind of fright flick would that be?!! Enter horror author/college professor/philanderer Roland Baumgarner (Christian Oliver) who just so happened to write a book based on that hot mess mentioned above and heads out to Merrymaker to cut the ribbon at the camp’s grand re-opening. Once there he meets the rangers in charge; Anita and Poppy Bishop (Larisa Oleynik and Christine Donlon respectively), grizzled hunter Burl Wolf (Don Frye, and some frazzled survivors that claim they were fucked up six ways to Sunday by a monster…”animal attack” my ass! Movie Review: A.I. Tales (2018)

Usually when I have to lay my putrid peepers on an arcane anthology things take a turn for the horror biz, but recently I was sent a picture packed with yarns of a sci-fi bent, all with the theme of artificial intelligence as their linking narrative element. Let’s see how the disparate stories (these shorts are presented “as is” with no connecting framing narrative) of A.I. Tales stack up, shall we? First up comes Seed; the story of a man named Nathan (Nelson Lee, who also wrote and directed the film) who’s family and friends gather to celebrate his birthday, but rather than being a joyous affair things take a turn for the melancholy as our protagonist reflects on the life he has lead with the folks gathered, warts and all. Recently I caught up with writer/director/producer Justin Price who we interviewed last year just before he had four films released in a three months span, including Elf, Alien: Reign of Man, The 13th Friday, Forsaken, and Almost Amazing. Justin filled us in on his new films and his upcoming series “Kush” which will be airing on CBS. Horror Fuel: “What have you been up to this year?” Justin Price: “The most exciting thing to me in the last year since we spoke and I was talking about doing the four films, from Alien: Reign of Man and Elf, to Forsaken. From that point forward we had a grander plan in which to start a narrative where we can create a lot of quality content. We have so many opportunities now.
