Ahead of its trailer release this Christmas and following its poster unveiling last week, Universal has shared the first look, via EW, at Jordan Peele‘s Us, the follow up to Get Out.
After months of secrecy, the first details have begun to surface. It turns out that Us is a monster movie! Peele has confessed that the monsters are called “The Tethered” Set in the present day the film follows Adelaide (Lupita Nying’o) and Gabe Wilson (Winston Duke) as they take their kids to visit Adelaide’s childhood North California home for the summer. After a day spent at the beach with the Tyler family (Elisabeth Moss, Tim Heidecker), Adelaide – who is haunted by her past trauma – becomes increasingly paranoid that something bad is going to happen to her family. As the night falls the Wilsons see four figures standing silently at the end of their driveway.
For my second feature, I wanted to create a monster mythology,” Peele told EW. “I wanted to do something that was more firmly in the horror genre but still held on to my love of movies that are twisted but fun.”
It turns into this relentless nightmare that taps into [Adelaide’s] deepest fears and ours as well — the idea that we might be our own worst enemies.” Nying’o added.
