Back in 2012 Disney purchased LucasFilm and got a lot more than just the Star Wars franchise. Now that Disney+ is up and running it’s no surprise that one of their upcoming projects is something from the Lucasfilm library. The studio is making a new series based on the Willow trilogy and it will not be a remake or reboot. According to reports, the series will be a continuance of the story.

LA Times reported back in December that Screenwriter Jon Kasdan had been brought onboard by Disney and has already completed the script for the pilot issue. It appears that Kasdan has now confirmed the news. Kasdan took to twitter yesterday and posted a picture of a hat featuring the film’s titular character hanging in his office.

The 1988 film followed a sorcerer named Willow Ufgood (Warwick Davis) who rescued Elora, a baby girl, from an evil sorceress. Along with a warrior (Val Kilmer), they fight to bring peace to their land.

We’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, here’s the original film’s trailer to refresh your memory.
