What’s worse than being a teen and finding out you’re pregnant? Being a teen finding out that you are pregnant with an alien hellbent on wiping out the human race. That’s what happens in Snatchers, from the writing/directing duo of Stephen Cedars and Benji Kleiman.

Picture it, senior year and you’ve finally gotten in with the cool kids. Sara (Mary Nepi) thinks everything is going great, but things suddenly take a horrific turn the morning after she loses her virginity to teen hunk Skyler (Austin Fryberger). When she wakes she is shocked to find that she’s not only pregnant but looks like she’s due to give birth any minute. The only person she thinks of to turn to is her ex-BFF, the same one she dumped for the cool kids. Luckily, Hayley (Gabrielle Elyse) still cares. Together the two set out to get some answers and “deal” with the situation before anyone finds out, especially Sara’s mother (J.J. Nolan) who tries way too hard to connect with her daughter.

The aliens are far from you’re average grays, they’re ugly, bug-like things with a nasty habit of controlling victims by latching on to the back of their necks. These ancient critters have one thing on their minds, oddly enough it’s the same thing young guys have on theirs, sex. If Sara and Hayley can’t stop the creatures the world is doomed.

Mary Nepi stars as mother-to-be Sara who is desperate to fit in and keep her clueless, jerk of a boyfriend Skyler who has just returned from Mexico. Gabrielle Elyse’s Hayley may no longer be Sara’s best friend in Sara’s eyes, but she stays by Sara’s side through it all. Both Nepi and Elyse did an absolutely fantastic job. Pay close attention to how they react during the explosive scenes, the young women nail it every time.

I imagine the FX crew had fun on this one. They spilled a ton of blood during the huge number of impressive kill scenes. Officer Oscar (Nick Gomez) has a scene that is simply brutal and I can’t get it out of my head. It will leave you wincing.

While the movie did give me the impression that its target audience is teens to the early twenties, I believe it’s still a great watch for horror fans of any age.

If you’re looking for an action-packed horror/sci-fi movie, Snatchers is for you. It’s a goretastic, funny flick with many twists and turns. It’s horror-comedy done right. You will want to watch Snatchers more than once so go get your copy of this five skull movie now on Digital or on Blu-ray™ or DVD on February 18, 2020, from Warner Bros.
