Many horror fans will be flocking to theaters this weekend to see the new Scream movie. Before you go, we’ve got a seventeen-minute-long video from Alamo Drafthouse that serves as a recap of the entire franchise.
In the new movie, set twenty-five years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, a new killer has donned the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town’s deadly past.
Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), Gail Weathers (Courtney Cox), and Dewey Riley (David Arquette) return to save a new generation of victims in the new sequel to the Scream franchise, set twenty-five years after the first film. Deputy Judy Hicks (Marley Shelton) from Scream 4 also returns. New cast members include Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Jack Quaid, and Dylan Minnette.
Scream, the fifth film of the franchise, is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, and produced by Chad Villella, the three members of the filmmaking group known as Radio Silence (Ready or Not, V/H/S, Southbound).
James Vanderbilt (Murder Mystery, Zodiac, The Amazing Spider-Man) and Guy Busick (Ready or Not, Castle Rock) penned the script. Kevin Williamson returns as executive producer.
Scream opened in theaters nationwide on January 14, 2022, from Paramount Pictures.
