Video game adaptations have taken over TV, with a plethora of series adaptations released over the past few years and more to come. One of the hit series is “Twisted Metal.” The good news is that the third season has just wrapped filming, so buckle up and get ready for a wild ride. Its star, Anthony Mackie, confirmed the news.

The Surprising Success of Twisted Metal

Peacock created a surprising hit with its live-action adaptation of “Twisted Metal“. The original game series focused strictly on vehicle combat rather than complex storytelling. However, the television show captured audience attention with more character development, a gripping, comedy-laced story, and brutal action. As a result, it became a hit with a loyal following.

Anthony Mackie Teases an Action-Packed Season 3

Star Anthony Mackie recently confirmed to Screen Rant that production on Season 3 has wrapped. He also emphasized that the team worked to elevate the new season. Specifically, the creators devised ways to ramp up the explosive action. Additionally, Mackie praised co-star Stephanie Beatriz for her dynamic onscreen partnership. He promised that the new episodes will push the intensity to a whole new level.

Behind-the-Scenes Changes and Cast Departures

Despite Mackie’s enthusiasm, Season 3 brought major behind-the-scenes shifts. For instance, David Reed replaced original showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith. Several key crew members also chose not to return for the new season. As a result, the production underwent a major structural overhaul.

Season Two Recap

If you need a little refresher, here’s what happened in season two. John Doe and Quiet entered Calypso’s deadly demolition derby tournament to win a single wish. After battling new iconic drivers like Axel and Grimm, they defeat the armored Minion and unmask Dollface inside the suit.

Stu unexpectedly wins the tournament, but Calypso twists his wish for safety, stranding him in space. Frame-up bounties force John and Quiet back on the run, ending with the group uniting to hunt down Calypso himself.

Actor Mike Mitchell (season two interview) will not return as Stu in Season three. Previously, Stu won the main tournament during the Season 2 finale. Furthermore, the storyline originally set up Stu as a vital central character. Because of his sudden departure, disappointed viewers launched a “No Stu, No Stream” campaign online. As a result, some loyal fans now threaten to boycott Peacock entirely

Season Three

While the premiere date for season three has yet to be revealed, it’s good to know that it’s on its way. You can stream the previous two seasons on Peacock. Be sure to check out my interview with the cast ahead of the season three premiere.

More Game Adaptations on the Way

“Twisted Metal” is just one of the many adaptations heading your way. There’s also the upcoming series “Lollipop Chainsaw,” “Far Cry,” “Pay Day” from 50 Cent, and the adaptation of “Diablo.”
