Black Fawn Distribution has unveiled a striking, neon-drenched poster and a set of first-look stills for HY3NA. Matthew Ninaber directs the upcoming hyper-stylized thriller. The announcement builds anticipation ahead of the film’s scheduled World Premiere at Tubi FrightFest in London on August 31.
The film is set against a gritty landscape of urban decay and claustrophobic interior spaces. It combines stark visual aesthetics with a fast-paced narrative. One designed to keep audiences guessing through a series of unexpected story shifts.
Corruption, Obsession, and Collapsing Identities
The story kicks off following a violent car crash. It links two women, Nicole and Rachel, to a string of gruesome, unsolved homicides. Two investigating detectives begin piecing together the evidence. However, they soon uncover a shadowy web of corrupt online sex work, psychological manipulation, and dangerous obsession. Through Nicole’s account of her descent into Rachel’s seductive sphere of influence, the boundaries separating protector, predator, and personal identity begin to disintegrate.
The Creative Force Behind the Camera and On Screen
This dark tale was written and directed by Matthew Ninaber, and produced by Jacqueline Ninaber. The director has built a solid genre reputation in recent years, previously helming the Shudder Original Death Valley and the medieval horror feature A Knight’s War, which climbed into the top ten overall film charts on Amazon last year.
Ninaber is known for physically commanding roles. He played the title monster in Steven Kostanski’s cult hit Psycho Goreman as well as featured creatures in the Deathstalker reboot.
The ensemble cast of HY3NA features Storm Steenson (Beyond the Chamber of Terror), Kristen Kaster (Death Cycle), Jeremy Ninaber (Death Valley), and Matthew Ninaber himself.
