Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming 9th film has received its release date. While some are still referring to as Tarantino’s “Manson movie”, Tarantino recently clarified that the film is not about Manson or his cult family, but does use the Tate murders as a backdrop for the film.

Variety is reporting that the film, set in Los Angeles in the summer of 1969, according to a source who read the script,” focuses on a male TV actor who’s had one hit series and his looking for a way to get into the film business. His sidekick—who’s also his stunt double—is looking for the same thing. The horrific murder of Sharon Tate and four of her friends by Charles Manson’s cult of followers serves as a backdrop to the main story.”
Sources are saying that Margot Robbie is being eyed for the role of Sharon Tate in the still unnamed film.  Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Samuel L. Jackson have also been mentioned as possible cast members.
Sony has set the film’s release date for August 9, 2019, which happens to be the 50th anniversary of the Tate-LeBianca murders.
