The long-awaited horror-comedy The Happytime Murders is receiving a lot of hype following its first look trailer debuted at CimeaCon. Critics took to social media to declare that the puppet movie is an “instant cult classic” as well as mentioning the movie’s sexual situations and its raunchiness but loved it nonetheless.
STX has now shared the red band trailer for The Happytime Murders and it is insane! The for adults only movie even features a puppet orgasming all over an office.

The movie is “set in the underbelly of a Los Angeles where puppets and humans co-exist. Two clashing detectives, one human (Melissa McCarthy) and one puppet, are forced to work together to figure out who is brutally murdering the former cast of “The Happytime Gang”, a beloved classic puppet show.”
The human cast includes Melissa McCarthy who stars alongside her fellow Bridesmaids alum Maya Rudolph and  Mitch Silpa along with Ryan Gaul (Identity Thief), Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games), and Joel McHale (The X-Files).

Todd Berger penned the script for the film directed by Brian Henson. Lisa Henson, Dee Robertson, and John W. Hyde serve as executive producers. McCarthy and Falcone are producing under their banner On the Day Productions.
The Happytime Murders will open in theaters on August 17, 2018.
